    Goodbye Supercorsa's, Hello ???

Well thats it, the second hand set of supercorsa's I got are know nackered!

Now I have a bit of a dilemma.... what to get now!!

These are the second lot of second hand pirellis I've had, and fuck do they go good, but as Quasi pointed out, overkill really for the road, they only last about 4,000 k's (but oh so sticky!!!).

So I am now tossing up between some...

Bridgstone battleaxe 012's for about $575 fitted and balanced

    Pirelli Daiblo's for the same.

or some Metzler Racetech K2's for $500 (probably not a good idea cause I think these are along the same line as the supercorsa's?? But then $500 is a good price, arghhhhh)

So what do ya's reckon!! If you've tried any of these, can you give me feed back. ie. how the feel, durabilty vs traction etc...

Any veiws on these would be much appreicated.

    Cheers Paul D

oh yeah someone was tryin to tell me that Metzelers & Pirelli's where made by the same factory, just different tred pattern's! Can anyone confrim this.

The thing is with tyres like racetecs an supercorsa's is they are track based tyres, designed to work at track temps (a fair bit higher than a road tyre, cant remeber exactly but i think it's round the 80-100 degree mark for a treaded track tyre, slicks run even higher), and to get them to that kind of temp under road use, you have to be fair pushing all the time, shit hot road tyres are designed at fast road use and prolly are the best for it, (temp range from 60 - 80, dont quote me on that) pilot powers for instance are a fantastic tyre, but still cook in 5 or so hot laps round the track. And for the conditions we can encounter on the road the road tyre is best, two good mates of mine one mounted on a K3 1000, and the other on a new blade, both racetec shod, i stuck with them on pilot powers and we were fucken hauling at times, and then when it turned wet on our last leg, i said goodbye to em.
The other issue with track based tyres is warm up time is a lot longer and if you decide to cruise for a bit then get back on it, the tyre can lose it's optimal temp, causing you to find you didn't have the grip you had before.
I know the supercorsa comes in a road based compond.
If i run a racetec or the likes on the rear of any of my bigger bore bikes, i'm lucky to see 1400km from new, road tyres even luckier to see 2000km, the only reason i go for them sometimes is i'm a cheap bastard and i know a few racers.
Out of the two road options i'd have to say the Diablo. even though i dont speak highly of them, there are a few that i know that get along well on them, haven't had any experiance with the bridgie, so cant comment there.

80 degrees is the correct opperating temp young Bruce, well done.

I used to get 3000km out of a set of Super Corsas on my 600, I thought that was pretty good.
Most I ever got out of Racetecs on the thou' was 1600 kays but fuck me were they grippy.

Where the hell do you get racetechs for $500 a pair fitted? Thats good buying.

PS. Bridgestone 012s are old shit. Whoever's trying to sell them to you should be discounting the shit outta them as the 014 has been their replacement for 12 months now.

Yea i would recomend the powers, best road tyre i've used to date, and when you take into account the varied road conditions we can come across, they're the biz.
014's are pretty good from what i've heard too, dont think you'd be disspointed with either, see whats at the best price.

TRUE , BUT THERES NO DOUBTING THE 012 IS STILL A GREAT TYRE , ITS STILL GOT MORE GRIP THAN 90% OF RIDERS CAN THROW AT IT AND THEY WORK WELL IN THE WET

DONT BE PUT OFFBY A SOFTER GRIPIER TYRE , SOMETIMES THEY CAN LAST LONGER THAN A HARD ONE , IE IF THE HARDER LEAST GRIPPY ONE IS SLIDING ALL THE TIME IT WILL OFTEN WEAR QUICKER AND IS DEFINATELY MORE DANGEROUS , DEPENDS HOW YOU RIDE
