War in Huntly - battle in the park.

Had our Guy Fox tonight, the wife is in Wellington so it was just the boys and my daughter and her boyfriend. We had a barby and set off our fireworks,at the same time watching all the neighbours send theirs into the sky - mutual oohs and aahs over fences.

Later on,over the road in the park a battle raged - some guys were set up in the skate board park as a bunker, and the enemy was over in the trees. They were aiming fireworks at each other - it was a huge firefight, with tracer crisscrossing over the park, there were some diversionary tactics with some fire coming at the bunker from another post on the otherside of the park. They must of set off hundreds of dollars worth - I dunno what was going on,but it sure was exciting! Some buggers are setting off fireworks outside on the road right now, grrrr, bet they don't clean up the mess.

OK,I know all you anal safety freaks will be hammering away on your keyboards....but I heard no sirens,no one was hurt,no fires started - but man,I bet they had fun!

WE HAD A WAR EVERY GUY FAWKES WHEN I WAS A BIT YOUNGER , WE WORKED IN TEAMS WITH A PVC PIPE, ONE PERSON AIMING THE OTHER LOADING , I KNOCKED A KID OVER WITH THE HUGEST ROCKET , AND I LIT SOME OTHER SCHMUCKS POLYESTER PANTS ON FIRE , THOSE WERETHE DAYS , WHY DID THEY HAVE TO BAN ROCKETS?

There was just another battle that raged for nearly an hour, but further down the park, just out of sight, there was fireworks shooting all over the ground none in the air. What concerns me is the money they spent tonight.....no Xmas presents for the kids now...not that the poor little buggers would get any anyway.

Was at the Huntly speedway and Slater Moto X track last night till about 18:30, as I was helping set up a big proffessional fireworks show with a mate. Due to the rain the speedway meet was called off and hence the fireworks were off to. Real shame about that, it was going to be a great show. There was even a 1973 British Army Scorpion Sabre tank which we were going to fit out with some flash pots and explosions as it was going to rark around in the oval as part of the show.

Oh well hopefully the rain date of next Sat will be fine and they can have their meet and fireworks after all.

I'm sure things like us setting a considerable area of hill side on fire when having one of our "Battles" weren't a contributing factor

The classic one I remember with rockets was many years ago in Dunedin. Car whizzes round left hand corner and mate in backseat fired a rocket across the road.

Right in front of a cop coming the other way. Biggest bollocking that I've ever witnessed.

Some of my brother's hostel mates brought a whole bunch of fireworks, but all this NZ stuff is really quite boring so, to spice things up a bit, we decided to get the old spud gun out, and light the fireworks and shoot them out of that, made for a much more pleasant display. NZ fireworks are sooo boring all the good stuff as been banned.

There was no posse in our hood to take on back in '80-something...so we just blew rubbish bins to bits instead...boring...
