i'd be in, sounds like a better way for me to go on the track (first time) than just a testing day...

maybe include braking zones marked with cones or the like, and poss have no passing included in those areas for the slower groups, (just a thought)

have seen cones put out as chicanes on the front and back straights for some rally sprints, with penltys given to those who hit the cones etc

i'd be keen to give it a go also

but seriously--the chicane would go in where theres a blip out the side of the back straight-yea you'd lose track width--cones because if someone sti=uffed up real bad theyll end up just plowing through cones

Frosty great idea. The back straight cones could be close to Castrol so that people still get a good run on the straight. Also they would be easier to negoiate with out having to scrub off too much speed. Is there anything else that could be used to mark the inside of the chicanes. Those cones will go flying.

I would come dependin on the date - what sort of discounts are offered to a moving chicane? Will you still do the slow, med, fast, insane groups?
And are you allowed to run it the opp way?

Bob--The chicane idea is to slow em before they reach the hairpin.
The cone idea is so if they stuff up they can run straight ahead and do little damage -but beter ideas would be fantastic

So how are they gonna learn to brake hard on the street. The entry into the hairpin is the only place I know where you really learn to control how well a modern bike can slow down from speeds of between 300 and 200 Kmh. The side of a car isn't as forgiving as the gravel pit.

But I see your point. Thought you might have been trying to limit outright speeds.

Some tuition on how to get round the circuit wouldn't go amiss either. Both of us could benefit from that aye.

I'm not sure why you'd want to slow people before the hairpin? If they are going too fast, there is plenty of run off so no danger there.

If you are concerned about people diving up the inside then a "no passing on the inside" rule would do it, otherwise use the cones to mark out a no passing braking zone, maybe even merge traffic into a 4m wide lane on the LH side of the track to get everyone into a single file for the hairpin.

As for the hill thats a tricky one. You need to be going pretty quick to come unstuck there so its usually racers, not road riders that find that out. You'd be messing up a nice technical section of the track slowing people there too (which Puke doesn't have a lot of!!) so I'd be more in favour of 3, maybe even 4 deep of bales.

    4) offers to fill the bales.
    5) someone prepared to supply storage facilities for 50 bales.

    I'd possably be interested.

Never been to a track day so not sure how it works, you run races or just solo runs? are there any other people on the track (non kb)? also is there a website or something where I can check the track out, similar to the hamptondowns site that shows an overview of the track?

    Cheers,
