Yeah I've got a chipped Xbox with a 120GB drive in it. Both the PS2 and XBox have their pros and cons. My friends all have PS2s which I borrow regularly so it only made sense to get an Xbox so we could get the best of both worlds.

However the Xbox pulls ahead once you chip it - basically turns it into a mini PC. You can plug it into your home network (with its builtin network card) and FTP over all your fav divx/mpgs/mp3 etc from off your PC to enjoy from the comfort of your couch. Also all the clever hackers out there have ported all sorts of programs for the xbox (Mame32, Media Player, Linux etc) just to spite Bill Gates

You can even rip games and DVDs straight to the Xboxs harddrive so you can play them without needing the CDs anymore (*cough* video store goodness *cough*).

Currently on my Xboxs drive I have:

    50 ripped DVDs
    1000's of mp3s
    600 music videos
11 "backed up" xbox games (good on ya Video Ezy!!)
Mame (with 1600 roms), Gameboy, Sega and Nintendo emulators.

Playing Gauntlet, Defender, Mr Do and all those other old school arcade games are heaps more fun on a console too and a lot more convenient as you can flick over to it during the ad breaks.

so how does one play Toca 2 online? Always enjoyed that game! I've never ventured into multiplayer racing (had a long stint with quakeworld for a few years though)
is there a local league or something?

Myself, I was an avid gamer from around '88ish on a spectrum/amstrad or some such thing. Went through Ataris and Amigas and on to PCs, up until the turn of the century.
Since then the only gaming has been a bit of gran turismo 2 and flight sim as my computer gets older and I become less inclined to spend money on it.

Yeah, same here. I've got an 80gb hdd in my xbox and it is definately the best way to go. You can actually mod them to run windows/linux so that it is a real computer.

I use mine mainly for watching movies that i download on tv, dvd's and a little bit for gaming, (mainly use my pc for that).

But if you chip it you can't play xbox live, that sucks a bit.

Looked at the XBox recently - but I have the PS2 and don't use that enuf to warrant it. Have the PS2 modded and will most likely wait until the PS3 comes up before upgrading the platform.

As for PC - well I just completely rebuilt mine and it is fair humming. Waiting until the 64bit systems come out before upgrading tho.

Tend to spend more time on the PC than platform -as gaming time has reduced and when I do play - I play games on line and platforms just don't match PC's for online play.

Mind you - I love Gran Turismo also and have been known to enter my times in the world ranking sites from time to time.

Ummm - Hoon - your XBox harddrive must be incredibly bigger than 120Gb - as 50 DVD's alone would take about about 350Gb of space? Then the 1000's of MP3's would take another 4gb per 1000. Not to mention the other items stored on your drive?? LIke music vids at 50mb each - and you have 600??

50 DVD movies can take less than 50GB of space when they are copied as DivX.

Never got into consoles, so I console myself with Grand Prix Legends on the PC . - the I.O.M. TT track in a Ferrari 312 is awesome!

After reading this thread, I just rememberd that I used to play Toca 2 on PC. If anyone wants to download skins for cars that I had created from scratch in Paint brush, they are welcome to. Note: it was made in Paint brush so the quality may not be of the highest standards.

P.S. There is nothing else on the website other than thoes skins. I just started it back when I was 17 then I got boared after working on it for 2 nights.
