Sunday 13th Nov - Coromandel loop

    Coromandel loop ride

Well with the silly season upon us, I've only got time for one more decent ride before BBQs and working do's take up the rest of the weekends between now and then. After weighing up all the possibilities, it's going to have to be the Coro loop. tentative details are:

    Meet: 9am at Papakura Autobahn
    Leave: 9:30am
Proposed route: Ab-> Drury-> Quarry Rd-> Hotel Du Vin-> Miranda-> Kopu-> Coromandel-> Whitianga for lunch (and possible Orca watching)-> Tairua (with a stop to check out Gareths tree )-> either down to Waihi then through gorge or just back to Kopu, depending on time then home via Hunuas.
Speed: Up to medium pace, as this is also going to be a sightseeing trip for a work colleague from Amerika.

Yeah I might be keen...provided that I'm not too knackered (or binned) after the Puke open day on Friday.

Prefer a med-fast pace on that road though...so any company with as few brains as me would be appreciated...?

Medium = ~110-120ish on the straights (not that I condone any kind of law breaking, but my speedo is waaaay out officer, I swear!), so you probably wouldn't get out of second

Main reason being that my colleague has never ridden on NZ roads b4, only them flat concrete things the Yanks build, so I don't want him caning it and coming a cropper.

OMG, I wont get out of first gear!
It's been a rough day. I got up this morning, put on a shirt and a button fell off.
As I ran out the door, I picked up my briefcase, and the handle came off.
Now I'm afraid to go to the bathroom.

Maybe for those who can't make it this time around, (and those that can) would like to do it again on Sat 10 Dec, when I am in NZ on holiday. I'll post thread when I have a bike definitely arranged.

these rides tend to be split up wtih peole going at all paces and waiting for each other so everyone should be fine except for perhaps new new newbies...

I should be in for this weather dependant.. ie unless it is hosing down i'll be there.

Sweet as. Coro loop is the last of the popular Auckland rides I have yet to complete. I take it the ride is a long day?

Fairly long aye...can be done in about 4 hrs (I think, haven't done it that often lately), but with stops and stuff probably more like 7 hrs.
