Sergeant Mike Sutton said police were "at a loss" to think about what charge could be laid and referred her back to her doctor.

Haven't there been criminal prosecutions for infecting somone with the Aids virus - is this different ?

    She shouldn't have rung 111.

Well you've got a point there. But I still find it hilarious that she would dial 111 instead of going to the station to lay a complaint...

I doubt the police wanted her to lay a complaint with any of them, especially since thats what got her into trouble

That was for knowingly (thorugh unproteced sex) exposing someone to a deadly illness (HIV),

Don;t know how different this is but I expect if it was HIV in question they would have mentioned HIV. The press can even spell HIV correctly!

Yeah, I had kind of assumed this myself... but these days you can never "assume" anything.

Yep, criminal nuisance as I recall.

    145.Criminal nuisance—

(1)Every one commits criminal nuisance who does any unlawful act or omits to discharge any legal duty, such act or omission being one which he knew would endanger the lives, safety, or health of the public, or the life, safety, or health of any individual.

(2)Every one who commits criminal nuisance is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.
I think it would be strecthing it just a little to suggest a dose of the pox is in the same league as HIV.

I'd just love to hear the recording of the 111 call.
