Yep currently running Sony F828 just trying to get different angles on objects (mainly bikes & planes). Purely a hobby but have done some wedding stuff a few years ago with Minolta X700 35mm. Still have the Minolta, motor drive etc & would sell to a good home.

Sony Mavica FD-91 - Just can't let this one go, that 14X optical zoom is great.
Fuji S602Z - Nice to be able to take more than 8 shots before changing the storage media.

wow... all nice big cameras.... I love photography... however have decided that I'll not use anything I can't carry in my pocket or hip pouch...

    So have been thru Sony DSC P1 / P3 / P7 / V1 and now Panasonic LX1

I used to do a large part of my photography in night clubs and dance parties.

    Thumbs up

You've done a nice job there. I really like the sunsets and clouds, but they are all great. I only have a modest Canon A70. Still getting used to it.

    Camera question if I may.

I am inept about photography but would like to try and capture some of the great photo opportunities that I see while out on my bike etc.

I have zeroed in on a digital camera that I thought might be suitable for me because it is waterproof, dust proof, shockproof and reasonably simple to use.

As yet I have not been able to get into town to have a look at it.

Perhaps you guy's might be able to give me a bit of an idea if it would be suitable.

It is a RICHO Caplio 400G 3x28mm wide angle zoom. Any ideas? Cheers John.

Photography wankery: Any camera that rates its zoom in "n X" instead of the top and bottom focal length is just a toy. Those Sony's stuff with your colours as well. Actually most consumer cameras do. Used to have one, never will again.
Meh, just ignore my old man rantings, I think even my A1 is a toy camera...

    BTW, nice pics!

    Canon A1?

well - your A1 (if you mean canon A1 35mm slr) is plastic bodied.... it is a toy.
when they wear through the black, there's a thin layer of brass-like plating over the plastic chassis.
it's a toy - an old school "OG" toy, but a toy nevertheless.
    Nikon F2 - that's a MAN's camera mate!

Argh. The A1... You forgot to mention "Squeaky mirror syndrome" - So many of that A range had the mirror problems.

As for the Nikons - sorry BC but any camera that focusses the wrong way round is never going to make the top of my list...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Yep, you could say I've got an interest in photography - I've been working as a photographer for the past nine or 10 years!

Currently got a Nikon F5 for film work and have used both Canon and Nikon digital kits in previous jobs. I bought a Nikon 5700 digital a few years ago that does a pretty good job, but I am looking to upgrade that to a Nikon D2X when I can afford it.

I resisted digital for years but now it is of such good quality, I can't knock it.

I started off with an Olympus OM10, then graduated to a Nikon F301 with which I took many of the photos that appeared in both Kiwi Rider and the (former) Evening Post. It's not necessarily what camera you use, it's how talented you are. I've seen some great shots taken on very cheap cameras and some crap photos taken by so-called professionals with hideously priced gear.

Can't help with any photo locations around Auckland though, never wasted much film on that location!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
