At the moment I am sitting here trying to convince myself if it dont get better by next week then I will go and get them removed .

Hint put Aprin on top of the effected tooth then let it desolve ,,it seems to cure for a while ,,,My next shipment of asprin is not due till tomorrow !!!!

Drinking heavily also seems to lessen the pain ,,though its a bit difficult monday afternoons, the boss dont mind sleeping , but sleeping and smelling like gasoline ......he get a bit narked with

I had 2 out (many) years ago. Bottom one impacted, top one cos dentist said have to go as a pair. Was staunch, rode there on bike, needle only. Top one gone in half a minute. Bottom one 2 hours & 3 'shots' later, gone. Didn't ride home tho. Fuck, Temgesics are gooooood. Never had any worries with the other side.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I think only people who went to school in wellington in a certain era (or have parents who did) refer to it as that. Something about that one particular place being the murder house lol.

Maybe... There's that place at the top end of Wills St (?) I think it's apartments now or soon....
We used to have the "Murder House" at Glendale school in Wainui and we also had the "Witch Doctor" who used to check us for Nits!

I have. It sucks. You have to get it done anyway or it'll only get worse. Mine were particularly good at trapping food against the next tooth along, which means that even once the wisdom teeth were out there was some fairly major civil engineering needed doing right at the back of my mouth.

    F*cking funny that was, obviously.

KILLER ADVICE: Make ABSOLUTELY DAMN CERTAIN you score a syringe with a long and curved end. I was given one and it was an absolute blessing for getting shit like bits of mincemeat out of the holes. Which, BTW, are huge. You sorta squirt *warm* water down the holes to clean them out. And, yes, this whole experience is gross from start to finish.

Get it done. Book it, set the money aside, sort some description of financing, maybe even shop around for a deal (I just went with someone recommended by my normal dentist). Do it under local 'cos it's shitloads cheaper and not that bad (you do get some wicked drugs), but do get it done because it's not going to get any better.

i had mine out at 16.. not too bad doing them all at once.. saves another 2 weeks healing after the first ones are out

    bit of Dentist's Office advice..

relax..thats the first thing,... hurts more if you go in all tense
General - dont eat anything for 12 hours prior to going under..

    most importantly....

as the dentist lays you back in the chair and tells you to open wide...

reach out and grab him by the testicles and repeat these words.....

"now doc.. we're not going to hurt each other today, are we?"

Most of my patients who need wisdom teeth removed are referred to an Oral Surgeon, a specialist who does this each and every day. Your average dentist would not be as practised, and most of the horror stories are from dentists, not surgeons. Manish is one of these oral surgeons. Most insurance companies that cover up to $60,000 for surgery will cover the full cost of oral surgery if done by an Oral Surgeon, so it may not cost you a cent. Surgeons usually claim direct from the insurance, so you don't need to pay first. Surgeons "usually" do wisdom teeth under sedation these days, ie hypnovel, as someone mentioned earlier. This twilight sleep means you are still conscious,(safer) but don't care what happens to you, and don't remember anything afterwards. It's been many years since I've had someone come back and sya they had a bad experience with wisdom teeth. If you have more than one tooth that needs to be removed, get them all done at the same time.... why go thru this more than once!!

Get the pericoronitis resolved/treated before your surgery, so that theres less chance infection afterwards. Keeping it very clean by brushing, despite hurt and bleeding will help, as will antibacterial rinses like "savacol", and even hot salt mouth soaks will help. The tooth should be symptomless when the teeth are removed, ideally.

With anything teeth related, deal with it ASAP, unless the dentist says otherwise. Most things become more complicated and painful, both in treatment and in the wallet if left. They are also more prone to giving problems afterwards..

    Just my 2 cents...

I feel better about things now than I did this morning especially having Manish's name mentioned glowingly a couple of times. Barb (King) gave me a script for Amoxycyclamens or something and they've taken the swelling down. I got an appointment with Manish on the 29th Nov. and I'm hoping he can get the job done before xmas. Bring on the good drugs I say!!

Sounds like you're in good hands. Do what Sarge said (except the testicles bit), ie relax, and above all be nice, and friendly to the surgeon and staff. They are human and will be much more inclined to be nice to you......

For any of you big softys that can't handle a little ole toof ache,go to your local chemist or health food store an buy some clove oil.
One drop on the effected toof an after you get over the bloody awfull taste you'll notice said pain is gone.Far better than any of the disprin, panadol type pain killers and won't rot ya' kidneys.

Got all 4 out in about 1981. Took 1/2 hour for first three, then an hour-and-a-half for the fourth. Fortunately I was under total anaesthetic!
Cost $380 back then, $260 of which was for the drug man.

Mrs H is of the same "needle-phobic" school. Personally I embrace all manner of pain relief.
