    Explicit Bodies!

There is a display called "Bodies" in New York, with 22 actual whole-body specimens like the example. Preserved apparently (they'd want to be!)

What "search criteria" are you using to pull up these photos this morning

This was on one of the reputable Oz newspaper sites, believe it or not. Hey, this is a Ripley's moment.

    Not cool....
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds

Called body works, and was on in london while I was there about three years ago. Fascinating stuff, but somewhat "not right" . . . the flesh is all preserved, and they have some cool displays like one of a rabbit where they put resin through its blood system (after it was dead of course) and then once the resin had set, they "removed the rabbit" from around it, leaving just the resin showing the veins/arteries/heart etc.

The ones showing the muscles on people in various poses (like playing soccer, and there was one display of a man on a horse where both had this treatment done, another where a man was in a pose with his skin slung over his shoulder like an overcoat) were pretty cool, very informative, and it was very interesting to see the differences in peoples organs when they have various diseases. Not to mention the lungs taken from smokers . . . I reckon that could have caused a few people to give up.

Have to admit tho, the displays on pregnant women and their unborn babies are enough to ruin your appertite (and I have a reasonably strong stomach - not much puts me off food!). That to me seemed to be somehow touching on a subject that was not meant to be put on display like that . . . some things deserve a little more respect.

But, would recommend the show, but only to those that have a strong stomach and are not easily offended.
