    Congratulations ManDownUnder

Today ManDownUnder competed in and completed his first ever triathlon (swim, cycle, run).

Not only did he finish, but he did it straight off the plane from Texas, landing at 0530 this morning.

    WELL DONE NIGEL!

Well done you dodgy dirty bugger. You chasing a naked 18yr old?
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

    awwwwww shucks.

The bit that got missed was that I DID finish, it didn't kill me and then I went home and slept like the dead.

All just a set up to get a bad time that I'll beat (and feel good about) next time.

I've gotta admit there was some inspiration around, some lovely lycra clad butts to chase.

You could say I found the appropriate motivation...!

Actually I enjoyed the race till the uphill bit on the run... My legs didn't say no - they didn't say ANYTHING (and today I'm still walking around like I have a carrot up my arse, but this time I don't ACTUALLY have on up there!)

Team KB is needed me thiniks... there's the team events and the individual events...

Speaking of KB, while doing the cycle legs about a dozen largish road bikes shot past us. Were any of you lot out at Maraetai around 10:15 on Sunday? Beautiful day for it!

Yeah, I saw those bikes go past too. And a few while I was on the ride. I felt sorry for the motorcyclists and cagers along that stretch of road with several hundred cyclists weaving all over the place.

    Not too sorry though...

    Nicely done, MDU.

Now that Race One is under your belt, what time will you be shooting for on 4 December?

Congrats that Man (Down Under). A KB team? Oh yeah I can see it now...
And Dover attempts to hand off to Juzzer (who drops his beer) and in the process misses the corner and ends up over the fence in the paddock. Sarge comes running up smokes at the ready. Mikey is there supporting of course - being dragged off by Bykey Cop for throwing broken glass at the competitors. And Winja's just standing there shouting "LOUD NOISES"... Yep that'll be a competitive team!

OK, I'll be doing the du, not the tri... let's see, what's sprint distance, 20km bike (40 min), 5km run (25 min), so 1:05 plus transition time, I suppose. I hain't done one-a these thangs befo' so it's just a guess.

I suppose I really should go out with a stopwatch and GPS and time-trial myself beforehand.
