And that's $US (although the sliding scale on the website starts at $450, meaning you are getting the massive discount, you would need to spend 6 plus hours to get the $300 rate.). Is Motu handsome or has she just proven she is a "drone".

man.. those boys at Salford uni have too much time on their hands investigating freakin ducks!

Their scientific explanation (pasrtially resembles mine) is that
    a) echos are often quite faint
    b) quacks build up and then die away (much like an echo) by their very nature so spotting an echo is tricky
    c) ducks normally hang around open areas with soft ground where there's not much in the way of reflective surfaces. (which was my reasoning)

On closer investigation you would probably find that the truth of some of these "facts" has been stretched...bit like reading the daily newspapers- makes good reading though!

While my theory is even simpler. Their call is bass, so slow moving and absorbed rather than returned by the surrounding environment. This results in a low echo with a long delay. Try it. Steal a boy racers car take it out to the boonies and set it alight. But before you torch it turn the stereo up to the point you only just hear an echo. Only the treble is audible. Put out a boom set to record different frequencies and depending how far the sound has travelled the bass would be quieter (largely disapated due to wind resistance) and later.

Basic accoustics you need to move more air at a lower speed to make a bass sound.

All of the models on the above mentioned sites assume a perfect transfer medium but the outdoor environment is not a perfect transfer medium there are other sounds materials that absorb sound and winds that carry/reduce/distort sound.

Its called the dopler effect high pitched sound can travel further with less interference than deep sounds.
God that hurt, remembering back to fourth form physics.

The problem with intellectuals is they assume the answer cant be simple.

Who is sadder? The sad fucks who disprove them....or the one that goes to lengths to point it out?

I'd say it takes longer to disprove them than it would to "bag" the people responsible for proving the facts.... eh..
    Not even with yours!!!

umm.. dave, am I necessarily a sad f***er if I comment on a few dubious items entailed above? Would I then take the dubious tag of physics boy for wanting to be anal about the technicalities (even though maybe only 1 other person on this site would car/make any sense of it?)

    oh the confusion!

Like I said it has been a while (13years), but if you are able to correct me be my guest. I would appreciate the feedback.
