    Question

Heavenly mate, I don't know which option to choose!
Agree with at least 2 options, but none fit:

I have a series of tatts on my right leg that cover pretty much my whole upper thigh. The design is in several parts and completes a circle around my thigh and I'm not ashamed to admit that the part going around the inner thigh FUCKING HURT.

My tatts are there to remind me of someone, to remind me of something, and to remind me of the strength that I am capable of summoning when needed.

    Some days I hate them.

Some days I am very grateful that they don't let me forget.

Many people in my life don't even know they are there.

This might sound fucked up and ranty but anyway, If I could I would vote:

"I like tatts that mean something"

Sometimes tatts on a girl just look slutty, sometimes tatts on a guy just look tryhard. Sometimes the complete back tatt looks tacky compared to the single small symbol that for someone has a deeper meaning than it's physical representation of ink in skin.

ok, without reading any of this thread bar alluns post [LOL] im gonna say tattoos look ok if they suit where they are, who has them and whether they represent something. sometimes they look tacky on both men and women...saw one guy the other day who had his arms covered, including the usual hd armband...felt like asking him what hd stand for since he sure as heck didnt act like someone whod know. and some of the lower back ones on girls are flucked up, done for the sake of getting one.

personally, ive got 2 seperate peices on me, 5 tats in total.

my first is a rose on my left ankle...meant to show my relationship with a family in canada, but im going to get it reworked when i get the idea thatd suit and get it blended with other ideas. was 19 when i got that.
on my left shoulder, ive got 4 monarch butterflies...each a different color. one butterfly for each person in my life that has died. they were uncovered when i had my bike accident...im sure they were responsible for my not getting majorly hurt.
they were done middle of last year for my 20th birthday. cost $200 even from powerhouse in palmie north.

edit: as far as pain, had i been sitting more comfortably i would have fallen asleep, lol. took about 2-3 hours i think...picked out of a book, but made bigger and colored of course.

The tattoo has taken really well and was honestly exactly what I had envisioned.

I would like one to cover up some scars. But I've been trying to figure out exactly what tattoo to get for the last ten years.

It's good to take time to decide. I've got a fairly traditional one but it has alot of meaning. If you have a scar or something else you want to get covered, get you thoughts together, type of design, and go talk to a tattooist. They may have some good suggestions as to how to approach it.

In western society tattoos have always been an expression of rebelion. Both the Greeks and Romans considered the tattoo a disfigurment of the body and it is from this that tattoos are not accepted within the social parameters of western society. The first Romans to be tattooed were the solders stationed in Briton and Gaul. It is thought that they copied the Romanised Celts who had tattooes as part of their culture denoting clan etc.

The body 'armour' of the Yakuza is direct result of tattooing as a form of punishment which replaced the amputation of nose and ears. It was a slap in the face of the Shogun and it is now associated with criminals as indeed is the Russian tattoo.

The west has been primarily concerned with decorative images unlike the russian in which the tattoo denotes his standing in the criminal community.

There's only been one that I like. This is full armour tattoo. Now if I can get my daughter to show me how to work our scanner and all that etc I'll try and post it in the next day or two.

The only tattoo that I like. Taken me a little time to work out how to scan this.

Those types of tat's are more common than you might realise.

    I have one tatt.

Wanted it when I was about 15 but didn't want to rush out and just get it done so held off until I was 21.

On my 21st birthday I went and got it and haven't looked back...It's a phoenix and the tail and wing circle my belly button. it means alot to me and I still love it...and when I have slim tummy I am happy to show it off....amazing how huge tummy tatts get when you pregnant AND thank goodness they shrink back! Not out showing it off at the moment but don't care as I got it for me and wanted it in a place where I could choose who sees it or not.

Regarding the pain...CRIKEY tummies hurt! I had of course picked an all black design with lots of sharp points and details. The guy looked at me and laughed at first then after my 40 mins was up he said - so hows that feel with a slight smirk? Umm fine, thanks...crying inside....nah not really that bad but when I hear how others sit there for hours on end I really am impressed. People say you can't ever just get one...I think that's rubbish I love my one and have no desire to get any others put on me.

    got a photo?

my 4 butterflies took 2 hours, all done in one sitting. i was almost asleep, lol. if id been lying down as opposed to sitting up, i would have been. im dying to get more ink, but the artist i want to use has a HUGE waiting list, plus i need to save up first. next one will be the seven dwarves as an armband that ive wanted since i was about 12.

Oh hell yeah! I got my first tatt on my stomach, around my belly button. I was only 16 or 17 and it took 1.5 hours. Mine was done by a "mate" and its wonky as hell plus its missing patches. The pain wasnt enough to stop me from getting another 2 though. Im not very proud of my first tat but I figure it will remind me of who I am and where ive come from.... I would love to get heaps more, just neeed the $$

ive only got the one at this stage kinda gutted too, as the artwork for it never got finished, my mate died in a bike accident before finishing it, but its my reminder of him and the hours of dumb shit we used to do together!

have got my second one on the wall ready to go, but like everyone else its a money thing plus waiting for winter so im not missing out on wearign shorts and worry about it getting burnt
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.
