    Sex, your opinion wanted.

    Hey everyone,

In the recent times I've just realised how things work in our society... After reading this, your views might change about me but anywho, I'm not too fussed as I just want to know your opinions.

In a nameless work enviroment that I am aware of, a number of young boys and girls, aged between 16 - 19 are employed. Looking at them, you'd think that they are just your average inocent teenage kids... Some even look as though they just came out of the Catholic high school.. Now I don't know if this is a surprise to most of you but all of these kids are HIGHLY sexually active.

To illustrate my point, I'll give an example. During a party, the girls have compitions amongst each other to see who can "hook up" with the most guys. At this party, the most inocent looking girl out of them all and the most quietest (when sober) was presumably the winner with a score of 26 different guys for that night. Some girls who managed to get under 20 guys felt insecure for not getting enough attention. Then all sorts of guys and girls with long term partners where also secretly involved in some one offs...

I am no saint.. I agree that when I was about 15-19, my hormons were also raging.. However I had always thought that sex was a special act between partners who cared about each other and I have pretty much only conducted the act with longer term partners. If hypothetically speaking, I were to hook up with 26 girls in a party like the alleged female worker mentioned above, I am certain that it would not be anywhere near as speacial or good in quality, when compaired to a situation where I just hooked up with one special female. This is a personal belife and not everyone will have the same belife. However I was just watching the news and per capita, kiwis are having more sex than the rest of the world on average by almost an additional 50%. Upto 65% of the people practice unprotected sex with people who's sexual history is unknown to them... Which puts us at 4th on the list in the entire world for this. When the survey asked people about the quality, it seems that we lack quality over quantity by a heavy margin. I know statistics can't always be trusted but I think it does say something.

I'm 21 and I know I am being weird or different and maybe my cultural back ground has probably influenced this. I know that guys my age are supposed to have fun out there but I prefer to have a special bond with 1 partner and have the same in return. The thought of having sex with someone out there in today's society, now raises new issues like, will there ever be a special bond where the partners can enjoy each other's company with the trust of each other's loyalty? If so, then will this be rare? Then the biggest issue of them all is STI. With sexual activity at an intensly high rate, how far are we from a wide spread epidemic (actually some STIs are already an epidemic in NZ).

I am not slaging Kiwis, cause lets face it, I have been here for 9 years now and I am pretty much one. This is just an issue that has been on my mind and I just wanted to hear some of your thoughts.

Please note that the occasional 1 night stands are completly different to the continues sexual acts with significantly large number of random people that you have no connectinons with in a short period of time, that I am talking about here. Such acts are cold in nature, in my perception anyway... It's something empty...

Last question, is it really today's youth or has things always been this way and I have just been too naieve, too blind and too preoccupied with my motorbikes through out my teenage years to know about it? Never mind how I see things cause I'm just a weirdo who loves a good love story and likes to live a life where "boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after"... I just want to hear your thoughts on the matter cause I really need to hear from people, what they think.

P.S. This post has nothing to do with my personal life. It is just my current outlook on our society.

    Hard to tell really...

60s = hippys and free love
    80s = anything anywhere
90s = acid trips and drugged up shags

something that's always happened really.. just changes form with every generation, we all try to rebel against the generation before.

Personally I'm of the opinion that sex with one person in the right place at the right time is about as good as it gets, even if that place and time is the stationary cupboard at school

Oh... and who'd want to shag a bird that had just got through with 25 other blokes? Sloppy 26ths anyone?

I'm 18 and I've never heard of that kind of party, except as like, a swingers thing which really doesn't happen with people my age. That I know of, anyway.

Sex has become like a drug, it's not special or sacred to anyone anymore. It's something you do more to tell other people about, I've found. Sad, but true. At least with most guys my age, there will be anomalies of course.

Oh yeah, I think 26 guys is fucken gross, to be honest. That's way over any line I'd draw to represent normal. Eesh.

Hey Motoracer ~ such pure and pious thoughts from a bike rider (don't you know we're supposed to be the spawn of satan? ). It's endearing, don't ever change.

What was meant by 'Hook up'? What you might consider 'Hooking up' might be different from your innocent girl's idea.

Eg. A guy I met during a uni lecture was telling me about some hottie he'd met at the bar. He said he wasn't leaving the bar 'till he'd "scored".
Quote: "So I went over and scored her at the bar".
    "You what???"
"Scored her at the bar. You know... kissed her."
Phew! My idea of 'scoring' at the bar would be followed shortly thereafter by getting arrested.

Even so, kissing 26 guys is just... unhygenic.
    Keep it rubber-side down...

    Wild huh?

Well we are bit lucky in malaysia..I haven't came across such wild party in my entire life..Well i'm talking about 26 years on planet earth in a city called Kuala Lumpur.. in our society , moral values and spiritual faith stand first .. But ya I can't denied i had sex with 3 different gals till now..but we started a relationship before we went deeper...Of course unprotected sex is a taboo for me and i'm lucky to receive an early sex education through school and media..

But again, protected sex seem nonsence for younger generation (15-19years old) cause they can't except or simply not aware about age alone is not a shield for STD exp HIV,SIPLIS and ect...

We can help them out...Just by getting closer to the younger generation and be open to them.. For a start, try to get em some adult CD which only feature stars practising protected sex...Make sure the stars using Condoms...Got it...Simple and very efficent... Trust me ..I got this from my Big Bro...See ya
    Peace to all..

i come from the Anything, Anywhere, Anytime generation of the 80's. ive had my share of one nighters, but 26 in one night???? thats just being a dirtbag. the kids will learn a hard lesson one day when someone they know ( from the party) comes down with AIDS/ HIV and they all freak out and run to the clinic.

back in my day , it was gonnoreha running rampant, but that was minor shit.. easily treated, not fatal etc...whats next? stick your dick in and it blows up??

darwinism man .. darwinism.. these little shit know nothing about respect, for themselves or anyone/thing else. they talk trash and dont have the stones to back it up,pop "Party Pills" like they were breath mints, graffiti all over everything, steal and generally run wild. we were loose when i was a kid, but not this frikkin loose ( thats a whole other rant)

i think the downfall of this generation started when the powers that be told us " you cant spank them anymore or you get tossed in jail"

fuck that .. my kid screws up bad enough, i will do just what my dad did to me when i did... boot in the ass and off comes the belt. ( PS.. i also praise him and tell him how proud i am of him when he does something good.. everything in balance danial-san)

    *//end rant

btw.. the Anything, Anywhere, Anytime generation of the 80's produced peepz like INDY...

Yup been there, nothing like 26 in a night but certainly 10 years of a continual rolling sexual maul...Its upsetting in the end and has long term effects as you never stop loving some partners.
Married now, 16 years and although the thrill of the chase is not there, its a far more satisfying lifestyle.
The truth is when your young hormones take over and you'd spend 24/7 hanging out of anything if you could.
I would have to say the behaviour you described I have never personally heard of or encountered. 'hook up' to my teenage daughter meens to kiss, not shag!

OK, done with the silly stuff. Maxium repect, young MR. When comes to sex "Quality" not "Quantity" is were it is at. Ooh, and guys, taking responibility for the results is also sign of being a real man (IMHO).

thats a big subject. and your right i think society has changed and moved on.
divources are way up. breaks ups are everywhere. and the sancantity (if i have spelt that right) or marriage and relationships is now changing.
if the first guys had aids/hiv what do the rest of them get? here is a present.
it's not the same and i have got no idea where love has gone. does not play a part anymore.
and new zealanders we are not safe. where is the protection?
these are great and valid points you have brought up.
    things that should be addressed.

'Hook up' is a highly ambigous term not always relating to intercourse.

The blokes gathered in one end of the hall, the sheilas at the other end,the blokes drank beer out of big bottles or half gees, the sheilas drank cups of tea.

But I was around in the ''love generation''....sounds pretty good, but I didn't see none of that.I think chicks were a bit leary of us,dunno why,we were lonely deep thinkers - but we partied hard, rode British bikes and shunned the establishment.... they maybe found us a bit scary, which was kinda funny really.

I don't know much about what goes on these days, even though I have daughters. But I've seen enough parties - it all seems kinda....pointless,they are all trying so HARD to...to...make it the biggest, bestest most wildest party ever, but it's just crazy, really young chicks just sculling bottles of wine or harder booze, the guys downing beer after beer just to get as out of it as possible....it's like a competion, what all the talk will be about at school next week.

At least we had motivation, something to fight against and take a stand...all we had to do was not cut our hair, not wash our clothes....no effort required to be bad arse and look scary.....

Motoracer dude, when you get older you'll realise, as an 'older man', all you want to do is shag 26 15-19 y.o. girls in one night then brag about it to your mates anyway. Anything to make your ex-wife/ex-girlfriend hate you even more...

I suspect there is a small percentage in every generation that carries on in this manner, just as there is others at the opposite end of the scale. It may be the current crop is a larger group than previous ones, perhaps due to issues like a lower drinking age and media driven peer pressures, or it may just be you are seeing this group first hand.

Btw, good on you for airing your concern

Remember to never split an infinitive. The passive voice should never be used. Do not put statements in the negative form. Proofread carefully to see if you words out. And don't start a sentence with a conjugation. (William Safire)
