IF I do end up going, I'll like to leave earlier than 9:30 and also keen on doing the Wanaka-cadrona-crown range rather than going down the Dunstan lake side to cromwell.

Good ice-creams, but charging exceptionally high prices for summer fruit. Cheaper places on the Q'town road (before you get to the gorge).

Yeah, me'n'Jantar will meet y'all at Cromwell at the big pub on your left (psst, wassits name Jantar???) as you turn-off into Cromwell (pronounced 'Cromill' down here as opposed to Crommwell as the rest of NZ says) but at what time??
If the weather was o.k. we could head up to Tarras and meet everybody when you leave the Lindis.
    idb, you up for that??

Gee Daryl you are so organised but that sounds like a good plan that should get to us Tarras/Cromill by around 12:30. So I am a go for Rolleston at 8ish. The Loaded Hog (assuming its in QTown) might be a bit far for lunch idb. Keep it in mind for tea.

Just a thought - I own a stone-age cell-phone thingy, maybe at pre-arranged times we could make contact via 'phone to relay locations.
I know (well, I THINK I know) that you can't hear 'phones when riding but if you can then I could call whoever when Jantar and I get to Cromill or where-ever.

    Any thoughts??

well SD these days we have this thing called texting...you know, you write a wee message and it gets zapped to the other persons phone... but the best bit is that it waits till you are READY to accept it! Aint that cool?!
So maybe a quick text along the route to see who's what and where?
Dangerous will send ya his ph no

A meet at Cromill sounds good to me, dunno about Tarras though - sports bike, straight roads etc etc but a ride through the gorge & back again would be very nice.
I'll keep an eye on your plans to get an idea of timing but text me on 0272010812.
If it isn't too late we could stop at my local on the way through - nice garden bar & selection of beers (if that isn't too gay).

Yeah well, I DID say it was stone-age - but I've fitted a new piece of string to it.
Maybe Jantar has a txt phone? Or I could see if mine can txt?

Can you txt easily while riding??????? And how do I put my glasses on while riding to read the txt???

    So many questions!!!

idb's idea of a quick stop at his local watering-hole sounds good too.

Woohoo, C.B. has just pointed out my 'phone can RECIEVE txts - but can't send them, half-way there eh??

But so I'll acquire a txt-both-ways type phone before the weekend.

One more question D, why all the fuel stops? Some of us can theoretically make Cromwell with out stopping

That's not to shabby at all, almost as good as the 11. If you want to test your range we can - I have loads of petrol in reserve...
