Yes and you should have tried the luge. We were in the area for a few days (sorry to not have contacted idb as we (the family) were tenting in the Arrowtown camp). Was snowing lightly at Coronet skifield carpark when there late Monday. It was cold and damp on the luge yesterday so that the brakes were somewhat non-operative. Young son (10) took the big dip a bit quick, shot across the middle of the next sweeper and stopped suddenly up the bank. Doesn't look like any lasting damage. With it being wet, we didnt manage to get to Macetown and split after lunch yesterday, arriving Chch 9:30. Back again in a week for the rally. Its gotta be nice by then.

Hmm, 'puter is carking it but here goes..
Fine day yesterday (20+) until 7pm , a bit of rain but not enough to stop me going for a bit of a hunt.
Hope Q'town - Glenorchy is a bit more tropical in a couple of weekends eh!

I did a quick run around the SI between chrissie and new years - had a fantastic time, beautiful weather, not much traffic and no incidents. I'm still convinced Tekapo has a curse on my bike (my home built speedo died). The only downer on the 2100km trip was it rained all the way from the head of lake wanaka to arthurs pass and running out of petrol 10km from fox glacier in the rain was a real bummer (went from wanaka to chch in one day via the coast). My new boots (xmas prezzie to meself) stood up well in the rain - my feet were bone dry until just before hoki when the breathing action just couldn't keep up with the water running down my legs (RAIN water!). Did the crown range road as well - absolutely delightfull except for all the cars (boi racers galore). Looking forward to the trip to Paradise.

I'm not quite sure - that speedo of mine died (fixed now) near Tekapo. But at an conservative average of 5 revolutions per meter, that'll come out at around 10,500,000. So your 13 is pretty close to the mark. Its just mad.

    Shame I missed you Jimmie.
I'm half a block from the camping ground & you had to walk past my place to get to the pub.
Another front swept up the lake today and it's raining again now. There'll be more snow falling on the mountains but it's supposed to clear by the weekend.

Went for a ride myself last Tuesday from here (obviously), over the Lindis, down the Waitaki to Dunedin.
Spent the night at the old Leviathan and was intending to go out and dazzle the chicks with my alcohol-fuelled repartee "....yeah, a Ducati.......a 888.....a 888..... a red one!.....actually I've got two.......aww I've seen about 225 on it but I reckon she'd be good for 270.....naah, it's not dangerous at all, ya just keep the throttle pinned if you get into trouble......etc" - but all the pubs were closed cos of the stat day thing!!!
Quiet night in with a bottle of Pinot and Sky.
Home over the top & through Middlemarch. Good weather the whole time.
Saved money, no headache or regrets and two days of excellent riding....aaaahhhhhh.....!
But some poor chicks sure missed out!
