Lets see- wises maps reckons its 529k's from my place to Glenorchy. So double that and its about 1058k. At 15 k/litre thats about 71 litres of 95. Which is what, about $1.45 a litre right? So thats about $103. How much is the rally? I could take some play lunch and a tin of baked beans for tea... couple of weetbix for brekky and my own booze.... might be do-able.... Can probably do the whole trip for under $150.....

    Whatcha think MrsB?
Naked arse Tony, that's one thirsty mother of a scoot, I figured mine would cost $75 -$80 for the same distance!!

Never mind, given you a partial 'solution' as per my PM eh?

Oh really? Hadn't thought of that.

MrsB has now revoked her Royal Permission for me to go.
I've been playing house husband for the last three days. I'm not very good at it- need more practice I guess. I got a tad short tempered when she told me she would be a half an hour late home from work. May not sound like much but when you are hanging out for some moral support......... so I hung up the phone on her. So now she say's I can't go. Oh wait, that's right- I'm not allowed to have any form of fun- EVER AGAIN.

So as I said, so long as the money's available I'll be there.

Only 2? We have 3 between now and Waitangi weekend (Glenorchy, Woodstock, and Vincent County). Besides Hawkes Bay is up not down from here

The trick I found Tony was to get them so pissed off that they tell you go having said that I've been on my best behaviour...

The bike is still unhappy with me. I changed the oil, oil filter, o-ring, cleaned the entire cooling system (I found a blockage in it too!), checked the valve clearances (which were all good). Reassembled eerything and filled the cooling system up with water. It leaked from every single hose connection and o-ring connection . Went out and got some radiator sealer (I know its dodgy shit!), and used that. Appeared that all leaks stopped, so flushed that out and refilled with 1/4 gylcol and 3/4 water. Went for a spin around the block and the bike seemed to be running qute well. So went a bit futher - bike was still performing quite well. Stopped on side of road to observe for leakages - no water or oil coming out sweet I'm thinking. Got back on and noticed temp near redline, but once I'd moved 50m down the road it was in the middle (radiator works!). Excellent now to burn off into a 100km/h zone. Took off from the light redlining it, and the bike absolutely hauled arse something wicked - better than has for a long time. Hit 100km/h and cruised for a bit. Noticed tep getting very close to redline. I'm thinking maybe I should head towards home. Take the first turnoff & then the bike starts to run on 3 cylinders . Make it most of the way home and then decide to push it the last bit. Got home & it had cooled down quite well so I started it, and it ran quite nicely. Hmmm.... defintely a too hot issue then. Still got all the oil I put in there . Thats one issue solved. Haven't checked water yet + don't want to. Suspect that there isn't a lot there. I'm pretty sure that the head gaskette is blown.

So to sum it up... The likelyhood of me getting down there is pretty slim, and the likelyhood if I do get down of me getting back is even worse! Imagine being stuck in paradise for the rest of your life!

I think the head gasket has shat its pants. I refilled the water (there was almost none), idled it for a bit topping the water up continously, and bubbles just kept coming out without the water level going down. Pretty sure this is combustions gases escaping into the water jacket.

Had enough of the bike for one day. I said I wouldn't eat enything until it was fixed. So I've eaten nothing today. Might have to break that rule and get some food and a or .
