I mentioned this before but perhaps it needs restating .
Ive seen web sites come and go.Some to do with bikes ,some just life.
One common theme Ive seen is when the bickering and nastyness is allowed to run wild the site in a fairly short time fizzles out.
It happens because people just stop going there.
I received a PM from a Very senior member who feels that his imput is no longer needed or relevant to this site. Reading between the lines I'd say he has had one too many abusive PM's thrown at him.
    It just aint right.
I totally agree with this and with Hitchers original post. I am very disapointed a senior member who I have a lot of respect for is backing out of the site as he is tired of the shite - and I cant say I blame him, there has been a lot of crap lately. Perhaps it is growing pains with so many new members coming on board recently but in some cases the older members are just as bad - look at winga and zed in this very thread - come on guys, thats the sort of off topic drivel that the rest of us get tired of - sometimes its amusing but I dont think this was the thread for it. Lets all think before we type and try and keep this site going as a good thing, and not let it self-destruct as Frosty has warned.

I dont think calling someone a twit helps either ! Actually it was that very post I was refering to when I said i had to look up the word in the dictionary !
But sorry Jim2 you did post it, agree with the guy or not his reply was a bit more measured
Badcat could of edited most of the reply ( or refered to it in a roundabout way ) , , and Jim could of added to his reply on this thread ( concerning the odd moment ) .
But at the end of the day BC didnt set out to be a ### and posted in good faith, and I think it had every thing to do with what this thread is about
The only people I would call a twit is/are...... Most if not all those on the gravy train in parliment .. and Myself .

Carry on chaps I must exhange some more money in order to chip in my 2 cents worth again !!!

Right then. Two Seven is consistently disrespectful. His tone is mocking, and he always starts his disagreable posts with a phrase like "bullshit". I lost it. I've had a crap year. I'm sick of the constant barrage of garbage on this site, untruths, half truths and uninformed opinion passing as fact. I lost it. I'm not apologising for it or retracting it, but I own it, I'm not shying away from the fact that I posted it either. It is an unpleasant post that one of the moderators who gave me a nudge in a friendly and respectful way described it as a bit like, "finding out your best mate beats his wife."

I personally think it was a bit stink that my post was dragged in out of context into this thread, BUT as I said I posted it and it in an unpleasant tone, and used "foul" language to highlight the fact I was genuinely annoyed that I was being mocked. You will note that I didn't descend to the red bling, PM mode of attack that is the domain of the smacktard on KB.

However the difference between a smacktard and a one off post like mine, is that I don't set out to rark everyone up ALL THE TIME. I don't use bad language as a general rule, unless WT or some other bloke with a genuine sense of humour are giving each a bit of good humoured stick.

Something else to consider. My post was dealt with by the moderators. Do you think that the moderators should post about EVERY post that is complained about, and what was discussed with the creator of the unpleasant post?

I believe I contribute more to this site than I take away. If people can't deal with the fact that I can be unpleasant sometimes, note SOMETIMES, then people don't have a realistic view of what comprises the whole human being. That discussion would have gone the same way face to face, and if you don't believe me ask Mike Chunn about the robust debate he and I had about P2P file sharing. I've been an APRA member for 12 years. You have to write copyrighted music or lyrics to qualify for membership. I vote for Silver Scroll award winners at the NZ Music Awards. But that doesn't excuse the tone of my reply to Two Seven, but Meh, I had a bad hair day and I'm not looking to be excused.

We all have days like that. Go find ya keys and go for a good blat, allways works for me now I have a half decient bike. If it needs to be a good long blat, come up to the naki. There is allways a spare room up here if you need it. I'm sure Sensei would also like the catch up and we could ride part ways back with ya.
After you took your helmet off that day you picked up the 400, I'll forgive the hair (pt).

Not at all. A welcome addition to the family from what I've seen.

IMHO only a small proportion of the disrespect comes from newbies. The bad eggs come on board and wind us up, but they usually disappear, more often sooner than later.

It is the senior members that set the tone - those members that consistantly post in most threads, day after day.

I find it interesting that the subject of multiple identities has become taboo, particularly in this thread (I wonder why?). This phenonenum (sp?), more than anything else, lowered the tone of the site for quite some time. Usually done by senior members who wanted to wind up (or even attack) other members from behind a cloak of anonimity, it was the ultimate in disrespect.

Until those who participated acknowledge the harm done, and work hard to rebuild the trust, I doubt that the tone of the site will improve.

What am I doing wrong? except as a p/t I don't abuse people, nobody abuses me and the greens just keep rolling in.
I never feel seriously threatened by what gets posted against me and I think this site is fun and informative, great sufferin' horn-toads, this is life people, don't take it so seriously eh?? - both those slinging mud and those recieving it, chill out.

Am I thick (it's a rhetorical question WINJA, mikey et al!!) or are some of you others a bit precious and touchy???
