Arrow I WANT TO HELP TEAM KB

ok folks .. there has been alot of stuff on here recently about supporting local racers and such..i know alot of people here are tapped out around this time of year and cant do anything finacially but there ARE a few things that racers need that dont cost much or anything at all...

    1. voulenteer as a flag warden/ race meeting support.. that benifits them al
    2. show up at the meeting with a tin of bikkies or sandwiches, bottles of frozen water
    3. petrol vouchers for the race vans
    4. gift vouchers to bike shops ( levers, oil, spark plugs..)
    5. towels, rags, plastic cups...
    6. clean thier bike for them
    7. accomadation vouchers /a place to crash/ homecooked meal
    8. Fast Food vouchers/ Grocery vouchers for when they are on the road

thats just a few things i can think of now.. racers.. how bout some input from all of you?.. what are the "little" things you need all the time? any support is better than none right?

get behind them folks.. maybe we have another Berry Shehan in here and we may lose him if we dont back him up.

Every racer has his own stuff he or she needs.
But yea if you want to support the racers here in a small or big way theres lots of stuff ya can do. Sarge covered off a few
    Tyres,Chains,plugs,oil,workshop time,dyno time,fuel,race gear--clothes etc
    tyre warmers,tools,--Thats all stuff.
Money is always good of course
This one is me specific -When Im racing if I seem an ignorant prick please ignore it. I recall telling a good KB er to "FUCK OF PLEASE" when I was trying to get my head together one day.
Being someones permanant pit crew--That is invaluable-someone to rely on to gas up.clean the visors etc.
A thought here too --what you do for a living might be usefull to a racer. Welding /tyre fitting even computer expert.

    I would suggest a timer.
Somebody dedicated to timing every lap and writing splits down.
I ain't asking for one, but offering if anybody wants one when I'm not riding, just ask.

Be aware that sometimes its not all fun and games, have someone there that can load up your bike and take it home for ya if you crash and end up in hospital (or worse...) Check this thread http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/...?article=24453
A racer ran off the track during a race, hit a tree and died, amazingly he wasnt found until after the next session!! It was only his mates who alerted officials that there buddy hadnt come in after his race, it took quite a search to find him apparently.

Umbrella girls. Suprised you other racers haven't realised whats really important. If you can't ride fast then look fast on the start line or in the pits. Which means I need plenty of brolly dollies.

Even helping put the bikes back on there stands after a race is always good, Helping pack up all the bikes, tools, and other gear.
Money is a huge factor! but (speaking for myself) im not expecting anyone to give money. Im sure everyone has there own bills to pay. (would never say no though).
Someone to watch you telling you where you loose time compared to other riders.
    Theres always bike transport.
Cleaning the helmet visor and screen of the bike is a handy thing.

As far as tyre pressures etc, i always like to check them myself. Basically for peice of mind.

Every racer has their own "thing" they do before a race. Its important to let them do it. I like to be alone on the bike while at the dummy grid. Or if you want to stand by me, let me do my thing, and not ask questions etc. Its a chance for me to focus and think about what i need to do while out there. And to clear my mind.
if a racer looks busy, its usually cause they are and dont need people hanging around getting in the way. The best help is just to back off and see them after the race.

    Have i missed anything?

    OH YEAH!!!

    BROLLY GIRLS!!!!
Its always nice to have a nice lady at your side holding a brolly over you both.
Could have done with one at Paeroa this year. Shit it was hot waiting on the dummy grid.

well I aint too well off being a gunnmint employyeee and all so what I have done is

    - help in the pits with changing jets, sprockets, removin installing tire warmers , getting the bikes off race stands and back on at the end of races etc

    - timing a practice or race, having all the laps of the race noted down so can compare with the rider to how they thought they did etc

plus its a great way to spend a day see some racing and hang out with some like minded people

    support

Most points have been covered here.
Moral support for racers is important, a huge part of a racers job is done in the head space, having people around you that are there to fully support the rider has a huge benifit.

A lot of riders have used race tires to sell, this is one of the biggest costs for racers, talk with all your friends and help move these tires on for your racer
    ( Sorry importors)

Some riders get to busy and pumped up to eat and drink properlly, follow them around and make them eat and drink.

If nothing is oing on and all work is finished, pick up some spanners and do a bolt check on the bike ( Safety and confidence building, the rider know's there bike is safe and good to go)

    Note taking

As long as you always have notes on things that have been changed, they can always be put back if a wrong setting choice has been made, again, a lot of riders get to busy or do not think to do this.

1st or last place, all are bloody good just for trying, Congradulate them

Riders, Never forget to say thanks to the crew that made it happen for you!
