Of course we are lucky , in comparison. But the point is, we arent living in Africa, or anywhere else. We are in NZ and most people in NZ expect certain standards and levels of competence from their Government agencies, commensurate with their expectations of what a civilised life in this country should be like. If they perceive them to be "not up to scratch", it is perfectly reasonable to point out the shortcomings and expect things to be improved.
Its either that, or a bumper sticker I quite liked
