    Kaitoki Bucket event, RACE REPORT

well it was the final race meeting for the wellington buckets today.
it was err arrr an interesting day with bloody shitloads of rain in the morning!!

    Practice:

well no one else had the balls to go out cause it was a 'little' wet out there, so me and ivan (the MEN) decided we would show the BOYS how its done!! I had a err um very slippery day with my conti city nylon compound tyres that were so so shit in the wet, but hey it still got me around the track . It was only a lap or two of me and ivan out practicing, then a few other BOYS decided to come and and see what it was all about. I had a few moments in the practice but managed to keep it on two wheels

    Race one:

well the track had seemed to start drying out so there was a little bit of grip out there and i was doing quite well (5th place)
i got a good start and was in 1st untill getting passed by three riders going up the straight, so I was in 4th. Then as the race continued a new guy sam passed me so i was in 5th (yay still doing quite well) untill the weather decided to pack up again and my 'dry spot' on the track dissaperred and i ended up on my arse on the exit of turn two ,which was fine no damage done, but i tried to stand up doing while still doing 50kph and it made me fly foward onto my face (good times) , so that race wasnt to great apart from the spectacular crash (proudly supplied by me )

    Race Two:

well this race was wet from beggining to end and the bike was all over the show sliding and slipping around but was kinda boring as i couldnt go fast with my shity tires.

    Motomart cup:

this race has the top three removed to give the slower people a chance at winning

this was a spectacular race with three major battles within the one race
I was lucky to get a great start and was in first. I was hoping to win this race but new i didnt have a chance cause the new guy sam was racing, and he is alot faster than me, but i managed to hold them off for two laps when sam and craig sullivan (sp) passed me. So i was in third but was having a major battle with Glen Gaston. (sp) it was lots of fun and i managed to keep it up and not let him pass for the whole race (although he got very close)

    conclusion

it was an awesome day and a hugh hugh thank you goes out to Bayden Sprozen and Hamish laing for organising such an awesome event!!

and also it was great to meet AJturbo and Bert top guys!! (my bike was pretty slippery eh AJ???)
so once again another awesome day put to gether, no so many people that would have been there usually but it was still a blast!!

    cheers all, Glenn

Good write-up Glenn. (You need a grammer checker! )

I had a good ride in that Motomart Cup race (even if I came last). I didn't have the get up and go to stay with Ivan (on the CBR150?) out of the corners or down the straights and I couldn't out-brake him either.

But I did push up the inside of him a couple of times

    Thanks for the parts too...

    Great writeup Glenn.

Hamish and Bayden what a well run event, shame about the weather but thats wellington for you. Great to see some of the old faces and the new (bloody fast) faces,
--- it's not a dying sport if more people come along...

Looking forward to next year it does seem so far way.

and Thanks heaps F5 dave for the ride on the rocket (once i had the balls to rev it out), hamish, ivan (and you dad) for pushing my bike around. see you all next year...

    Brent

I am sorry to have missed it. Unfortunately I broke a couple of ribs last week, so no riding for me for the next while.

It was at the Karori BMX track. There is a double jump at the start.

I didn't hit the first jump fast enough. I clipped the crest of the 2nd with my weight too far forward.

spat over the bars, failed superman attempt.

Yea that Karori BMX track has got me too, one of the table tops near the end (not sure if it is even the same now).

However I’ve got to say that was more than 2 decades ago.
