    Wairarapa Motorcycle Sprints

Fantastic day at the sprints today.
Weather looked a bit dodgy from the Wellington side, but at the event it was dry , a bit overcast, nice dense air and a small southerly giving a tail wind boost.

Only about 15 riders turned up, so the organisers must have only just broken even but due to the small numbers the turn around was short. I had so many runs I had to stop because I was running out of gas.

I think quite a few people missed out on a great day because they worried they might melt in the rain

    Ho Ho just kidding

Not so much the rain but the cold, very gusty southerly that's kept me indoors. Getting cabin fever...

    So what was the results?
I turned up for a looksie with three other riders. I couldn't believe how small the turnout was this time around. However there were a few riders doing the Motomart ride and we did see the Triumph gang at the flying fish. Also, A wet but fun looking day at the buckets.

Busajim was doing very nicely on the flying 1/4s 1st equall at lunch time. (5.15sec) but I think a guy on a 1200 Kawa got down to a 5.02 in the afternoon.

Yep the weather was ok over there. I wasnt running in it but a few mates were.
Everyone who ran in the event got plently of passes due to the small numbers.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

I got 5.77, which by my calcs was around 250. If it's of any interest, my speedo was reading somewhere around 270 going into the timing, and about 277-278 at the end. I had to bugger off at lunchtime, so didn't get to fry my clutch over the standings.

Got up early to go, saw the weather was crapolah here in Whitby and flagged it. The forecast for the Wairarapa was shit. Wish I made the effort now. What a pussy.

Yep you sure are. The hill was wet but as soon as you got over that it was sweet. Dry on the way home too

    Not bad. My K3 600 (that's 600cc) was timed at over 261kph, reading 288.

I do believe that's still a record aint it? Jimbo?

I didn't have the same level of commitment on the starting corner as I'm sure you would have. Besides, you coulda sat on the tank and still been under the fairing... some of us ain't that aerodynamic.

Actually I do believe it is. Proves the fact that if you give you bike fuck loads of rissole when running it in you end up with a fast bike.
