    B.O.P. ride, Sunday 4th December to Te-Kaha

Right you BOP riders, we can't have the main cities having all the fun with group rides can we?
Waikato people are welcome to join in the fun too if you like

I propose a ride to Te-Kaha for lunch.

    Meet:BP Koutu in Rotorua, BP
on the corner of Lake Rd and Fairy springs Rd
    Time:10AM for 10:30 departure
Ride through town and out towards Whakatane (decent corners)
Straight through Whakatane, Opotiki, and aroud the East cape to Te-Kaha for lunch and talking shit.

Tauranga crew feel free to meet us along the way if you like, or get up early and come across the Direct road for a warm up

All paces welcome, ride at your own pace. I don't want to pick anyones arse up off the road, and I'm sure you don't either.

Hope to see you all on Sunday morning :spudwave:

Dunno, looks like about 3 hours each way from here on a map. If someone else knows better then please correct me

Rotennrua to Te Kaha should take 2.5 hours, plus any tourism time. Plus defference to Mr Plod - yeah, 3 hours is about right.
Sounds like you are not familiar with the road. It's a great ride BUT take lots of care past Opotiki. Some of the corners are deceptive, one or two of the speed advisory signs mean what they say, and livestock & horses on the road are not rare.

Was thinking the same after Sunday.
Have been invited to go on a ride with the Ulysses club on Sunday as well.
They are going out to Murupara, across to Teteko, Whakatane & then onto Opotiki and on down the coast but have not said how far.
It is a good ride going out to Murupara across to Teteko and back over the hill to Rotovegas.
Another one is to go over the hill to Putaruru, Tokoroa and head for Taupo on SH1 and turn off at TeKopia Rd?( I think) anyway you go past Orakie korako and come out on SH5 at Golden springs and back to Rotovegas.
These are ideal after work rides say on a friday night especially over summer. Stopping on the way for a hambuger and a beer.

    Cheers TC

Should Take 3hrs, with breaks each way.

There is no longer a service station/store in Te Kaha, the closest store is in Omaio...

We'd be better off doing the loop to Gizzy and back (Waioweka gorge) but it'll take (Opotiki - Opotiki) 7-8hrs with breaks... probly 2 far.

Not sure if I can make it at this stage, but if I do come I know the roads well (stomping grounds and all)

Isn't Te Kaha a Frigate? And how did you find a map that showed it? Does it move around on the map, like that map in the Harry Potter stories? Won't you get wet?

Yeah, the waioeka gorge is closed at the moment from Opotiki, so it will be a mess for a few weeks at the least.

    Sorry I can't make it.....

And to avoid boredom south of Tokoroa, you can count all the cops you see (be prepared to run out of fingers in this exercise)
