I still say cutting corners takes all the fun out of having them in the first place. But your life, your riding style. But don't expect sympathy when a cager does take you out after you start getting bored with just cutting corners in places with good visability and start doing it in places with poor visability. Even less so if my ACC levy goes up.

accos... happen cos people do NOT see an oncomming car/bike or they do not see it in there mirrors
It's only illegal if you can see less than 100 metres of clear road ahead of you, you could see at least 300m up the road on that corner.

5 bins now eh? Must have missed some of them....

Yes we are all entitled to our opinions and I was just expressing mine. I never put anyone at risk the whole day and I made it home ok in one piece. It was a great stretch of road and if you say you've never cut a corner then you are not being honest with yourself. None of us there would cut a corner like that if it were a blind corner.

    5 bins? I only count 4, who's the 5th?

My off was caused by a front tyre that was perished and had 'gone off'. I'm the first to admit that it was my error not to notice this, and not to consider that the tyre was getting abit old..... lesson learnt.

However, the way I ride was NOT the cause of my crash.

Another of the off's I'm aware of was while riding slowly around a roundabout and could hardly be called a bin let alone caused by riding too fast.

yeah my bad, 3 bins + a couple more near misses. regardless of the numbers, 3 or 5 is still 3 or 5 too many. there shouldn't be any. this is too much of a common occurence and something needs to be changed.

I never called anyone names. Just pisses me off being accused of being irresponsible when I was just have a good ride. If you guys knew the road you wouldn't all be jumping to conclusions and thinking we are all headed for a grizzly death on the road. Sure, some did bin but was not from a few of us cutting that corner.

Yeh that was me... my riding can't be that bad, I'd gone all the way up to Coro, then over to Whitianga (sp?), and literally on a roundabout with nobody else for miles I misjudged the exit and hit the dirt.

If you wanna say my riding's shit then feel free, I'll happily admit I'm a noob and know sweet FA about bikes other than what I've picked up over the last 4/5 months.

How many people here can say they've never binned a bike? and if so how many years / KMs have you ridden?

See above.... was holding a good line on a beautiful smooth corner until the front tyre decided it didn't want to do what it's told.

    YOSHI:
Please don't feel any responsibility for my off. It may have been my 1st KB ride but I ride with a number of other groups, some at a quicker pace than I was going yesterday. And I have covered those roads before.

That tyre could have let me down at any time and I am fortunate that it was at a time I was surrounded by so many helpful, friendly bikers.

Big thanks to all of you

There's only one person to blame and that's myself, I have a new tyre had planned to replace it this week..... my bad.

In the end, SHIT HAPPENS, I live to drink another day so I'm happy
