    Attention Norton lovers

    .
    .

Not quite sure where to post this....

I'm involved in a small group of individuals who are bringing Peter Williams, Norman White, and a 1972 John Player Norton out from the UK to NZ in early Feb.

Peter Williams was a Norton factory rider and in 1973 won the IOM - the last guy on a Norton to do so. He was a world class rider, in his time he was second only to Agostini and Hailwood.

Norman White was his mechanic, and nowadays Norman has his own business working on and restoring Nortons - he was commissioned to restore the Nortons written off in the Birmingham Museum fire. Norman's a top class racer in his own right as well.

    See www.nortonracing.co.nz for more details.

There's also an auction on TradeMe for some personally signed t-shirts and workshop manuals, plus an auction to win a ride around Pukekohe on the JP Norton. (if you can't find it on trademe you can go there via the link on www.nortonracing.co.nz )

Contact me if you'd like any more info (the long and the short is that we're doing some fundraising to help the guys who put up the $$$ for the airfares recoup their costs - but you get stuff for your money).

Hi Linda - glad to see you back. Regarding the last rider to win the IOM on a Norton, I think that that honour goes to my friend, the late Steve Hislop. I woz there as they say and there wasn't a dry eye in the grandstand that day.

Opps - I must have made a cock-up.....or is it something like he was the last guy to win the Formula 1 (or whatever it was called) TT on a Norton?

Not meaning to take anything away from Hizzy - he was a great rider. I read his book earlier in the year - wish I'd met him/seen him race.
