Sorry dover, did not realise how unsatisfied you are in life.

Aggreed to a certain extent, if I ever get bored riding, I'll stop. Why the hell would anyone ride if it was boring?Originally Posted by The_Dover

Ask anyone who's ridden with me in the past 5 years, I'm bloody fast (if I may say so myself) yet never have "moments" or incidents (a few indecents maybe) and always welcome back once invited. It's a nice feeling.
IMHO (and I know this isn't nessecarliy a shared view), unless you ride with your eyes closed, every accident is avoidable. I've hit cars doing u-turns/pulling out without looking, but had I thought early enough, "This fucker might not stop", I wouldn't of hit 'em.Originally Posted by The_Dover

I wouldn't say it's stupid, I mean crashing IS a big part of learning to ride, it's just better done right at the beginning and nervous stage when the speeds are lower. I just think Dover's not quite expressing what he's trying to say too well.Originally Posted by inlinefour
I think that implying that by riding a cruiser, you're having a boring ride is a little narrow minded though.

years ago it was the expected norm to have at least 1 good crash in the first 2yrs of riding & to expect to have decent crash in the first 10yrs of motorcycling, and if that didn't happen you were doing something wrong!Originally Posted by White trash
its part & parcel of motorcycling & you learn from your mistakes & if you don't more fool you! learn to undertand & know the machine your on & minimise the chance of it teaching you a lesson about controlling your ego
it doesn't matter what sort of bike it is whether its sports, cruiser, chook chaser or what. as long as your doing it & its what you enjoy.
Agreed there WT, everyone is entitled to their opinion, including the_dover. However it would be a boring old world if we all rode the same bikes, and that inludes gixxers.Originally Posted by White trash

Sorry, been fishing!
Hey WT, I was referring to you admitting to having been a squid but saying that you know the bikes limits without having overstepped them, ie crashing. I respect what I have head and seen of you as a rider but by your own admission it took a few hard knocks to get there and I don't believe anyone will be able to push a bike to it's limits without actually finding them at least once!
As for the cruiser thing, I don't actually care what people ride I just like giving Gaylander shit for his poor mans Harley Fergusson!! I've been seen riding round on everything from a TLR to a dog rooter and an M50 in the past few weeks and I enjoyed riding all of them, well except maybe the cruiser cos I did feel a little gay.
Maurice liked it though.
