Well, it's overcast outside with very little wind here in Hobsonville, which is good. Metservice says the following about Thames weather:

    Max: 24°C Min: 16°C
    (Day)(Night)
    Occasional rain. Humid northerlies.

So we'll see you keen Aucklanders outside Papakura Autobahn around 9am for 9.15 departure, and the rest of you at Kopu around 10am!

Not ridden a cruiser for ages. Should get the hang of it ok. Nice feed of fush & chups on the Pilot Bay side, before finishing off with an icecream and giving you a buzz.
Weather looking pretty reasonable here. I'll be leaving in about 20mins. So see you's all soon.

Thanks Zed for the hospitality today, and all the other K.B's. The weather and ride was great (inspite of the cruiser). I was very impressed with Tairua. Very nice place. Great to put some faces to some K.B names. Hope to do it again sometime. A few of pics. Maybe Zed can add some names to faces.

As suspected, I was on roster today - bugger!
Might catch you in Perth next month, Zadok.

Cheers for the ride guys sorry i could only make it half the way.

Had a nice blat out through the hanua's being the first open road ride with the arrow. Glad i wore ear plugs didn't really notice and big power leaps but still kept good pace (well for me that is). Cheers mat for organising it i'll be keen to do the whole things next time..

After i left you guys i had a nice "tootle" up the east coast through kaiawa (sp) and kawakawa etc etc etc didn't see many bikes... or cars for that matter just a lot of sun and good roads...

p.s. sorry for overtaking you JSG on that corner as we turned off to miranda but i just luuurve those corners
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...

What a truly fantastic ride, one of the best I've been on with KB! Thank you to all who came, everyone rode well and the group generally stuck together with the exception of poor old Zadok who lagged behind because his cruiser was bottoming out around corners, and the Coro Loop is just full of nice corners!

The Auckland crew met up nice and early as planned and got away on time to make Kopu by 10.15am where there were another 5 bikes waiting for us. We had a good sized group of 11 bikes leave Kopu destined for Whitianga for lunch, where we arrived at 12.30pm and had a good feed and conversation. Riders & bikes were as follows:

    Zadok - Suzuki 1500cc Intruder
    Hayabusa01 - Black Busa
Busa Pete & partner - Gold Busa
    Warr - Frosty's old VFR750
    Teflon - Yellow TL1000R
CaN (Christine & Neil?) - Super Blackbird
SV1000 Gal - Naked SV1000 with twin Yoshis!
    JSG - CBR250RR (600kms older!)
    Zapf - CB900 Hornet
    Digsaw - CBR400
    Aff-man - GSXR600 (left us at Miranda)
Saul - GSXR1000 (left us at Kopu)
    Me - Super Blackbird

The roads were all top notch and the scenery & weather equally complimenting. We ended up not only doing the Loop but also rode down through the awesome Hikuwai road to Whangamata and then thru those challenging twisties to Waihi, where Zadok departed and returned to Tauranga and the rest of us ventured homeward up SH2 thru the gorge, which was a good stretch alongside that river and one of only two places during the ride we got rained on, and at one point it rained so hard for about 2 mins that one guy said it stung him thru the vents on his leathers!

I calculated being in the saddle for a total of 8 hours and as usual the Blackbird performed brilliantly, my body was feeling it last night though...small price to pay for an excellent days entertainment!

Some pics attached. See you on the next one!
