    Cycling anyone?

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering but how many bikers are also into cycling? Racing, casual, mountian biking? Seems a logical thing perhaps, as you could say that they are similiar sort of activities.

Or is everyone here lazy buggers?

    Cheers,

    Stefan

Yep, Im a lazy bugger, although I do own a sweatwheel it only gets used when I have exhausted all the other options available. All that huffing & puffing just aint natural !!!

I've been getting back into the mountain biking lately. The bike hasn't seen any sort of off road action since I broke my leg on it a year and a half ago tho! oops

Hmm, there's a couple of us Auckland based bods that do a wee bit of cycling etc. I'm doing a few triathlons this summer with ManDownUnder and Fish. I've also raced Mountainbikes and road bikes in the past. Mostly just race multisport and adventure racing these days which include mountainbiking and road cycling. Marty does a bit too when he's not trying to chop his fingers off...

I tried the push-bike thing a few years ago but find it so much easier with a motor.

On my road to my current abode, I came across a psyclist in the middle of the road. Now there's a tripple apex blind corner on this road and he was at about the first bit when I noticed he hadn't heard me aproaching rather rapidly. So I sound my horn(as I didn't know whether to take him on the inside or the outside) and he did a huge wobble and veered left.(lucky nothing was coming the other way) I slowed down and asked him WTF he was thinking and if he was on a death wish. He told me it's safer for him to ride on the centre-line than on the shoulder, so he can be seen. That was ok, I wished him good luck(he'll f*ckn need it), suggested he invest in a rear-vision mirror and went on my way. A few days later on my way home in the car with all my kids, I saw the same guy on the same corner in the middle of the road. Only this time there was a big truck coming the other way. I sounded my horn again and he wobbled and veered left again but I had to brake hard to avoid rear-ending him. Havn't seen him for a few weeks now. So WTF is it about some psyclists? Do they think their spandex makes them invincible or what?

used to do road cycling in school a few years ago, team cycling on the waterfront, and we also split up to do the multisport team entries, with runners and kayakers.

Then gained a bit of weight (30kg) and a motor, so probably not going to get back into it... really enjoyed it though. Team cycling was a buzz, and the top speed I ever achieved was 85km/h...

I suppose I should sell the bike and gear... but that would be admitting it would never happen again

I've been cycling regularly for about the last half a year or so, and attempting to cycle regularly for aproximately 5 months before that.
I just ride around the block 2 laps, three times a week. trying to build up to 3 laps, but my knees complain if I cycle too much. It's fun though.

Ok cool, so there are people here who are into cycling too.

I have just started road cycling, and am having quite a lot of fun so far. Except when one time a silly person in a 4WD didnt see me comming at a roundabout, and nearly took me out. I knew how motorbikers felt just then about not being seen.
Hope to compete in the round the mountian here in Taranaki at the end of Janurary. Got to get some lycra first hehe...

    Cheers,

    Stefan

    what bike have you got?

You will find the lycra shorts are great - no chafing, and they have padding for the sensitive parts Oh and less wind resistance...

So why do people cycle in shorts??
