oh, those sort of people are great to wind up (with a new user name of course). My list of choice lines would be
    a) hey, you got a purty mouth
    b) ya know what? I heard the other day that Charlton Heston was a bit -well-... you know Richard Simmons?
    c) Man, how unconstitutional is that damn Dubya guy getting all cock-a-hoop on that aircraft carrier when he's a Nam draft dodger? (guaranteed to spark a riot)

I think the guts is this site started in NZ with mainly Kiwis, though a few foreigners have signed up since, and we don't have the same intense "better than you mean arse without a sense of humour" attitude that a lot of Yanks seem stuck with.

Americans are xenophobes. They just expect you to agree with them. God, guns, gallows and gays -- the four sure ways to get a rise out of a Yank...

True, but once I bought the bike, the car just didn't do it for me anymore. So, bye bye car.

yeah.. some cars come close (Lotus elise, Chaterham 7's... some other small rocket sled out of the Uk I can't recall) but boy, you have to shell out for them!
now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to ride home on a bike that I can just afford but safe in the knowledge that I am suitably equipped to damage any car drivers ego along the way and enjoy myself wholeheartedly doing so! cheerio!

I like both worlds along with aircrafts, watercrafts etc although I am now more of a biker than anything else. The other forums I have been to were pretty shit. I came to know about this site through KK and liked it very much. I'd prolly join with a cage forum if I had a decent one to blab about. Who knows, I might even join a Cessna owners forum oneday...

Yes Baldrick, thats a very cunning plan but I think I see one TINY problem.

The thing that I have noticed with the forums that I use: Moto guzzi-Aussie
    Moto guzzi-Yank
    VTR 1000 -UK
Is that the Aussie's are bloody hard doer's great sence of hummer that only them and us can understand as the pom's & Yanks seem to be a bit serious The pom's are into tricking up and frezzing there nuts off, speed over comfort
And the Yanks..... well thats been mentioned above However I have to say that Guzzi people are a bit different More relaxed I think even in the states more mechanicly minded and give each other a hard time. And the yanks do somthing a bit weird to.....they name there bikes with girly names.

So lets fling a bit more shit at each other abuse the cops (except those regested here) oh stuff it them to, Laugh at the HD riders (and scooters just kidding DebK)
pay a few more fines and go for a ride.

Ps: No Guzzi farm jokes please
    cheers DD

    Aw, shucks!!! That's SO nice...
You are right, though, Zed. There are some good people hanging around here. Don't necessarily agree with each other, but wouldn't life be boring if we did?

I regularly browse a couple of specialist bike forums, one based in U.K., the other in U.S., and occasionally an Aussie one. On the British forum the posts are often aggressive, laddish, ego-driven and full of flaming. They're also fun to read. On the Yank forum there is courtesy and an exaggerated concern for respecting others - no flaming tolerated. Irony is rare and when it occurs often provokes puzzled responses. The Aussie forum is all irony in that typically undercutting way that makes you wonder whether they can ever take anyone or anything seriously. The Americans in general have only the vaguest idea that the rest of the world exists. The Brits know that there is reasonably civilized life on the other side of the Channel and even across the Atlantic but now hardly ever think of the Antipodes, if they ever did. Ockers conceal their inferiority complex and cultural cringe with wickedly accurate put-downs of others in general and NZers in particular.
    It's all great fun.

I think that bikers in general are more out spoken, out going people. The fact that they choose to ride bikes speaks volumes - not just anyone is interested or even capable of jumping on a bike and blasting of down the road.

Pretty much everyone these days has a car or can drive one, bikes are becoming less common and only people who enjoy being somewhat on the edge would gravitate towards M/C riding. I think that's why the bike forums are full of interseting banter.

I think kiwi bikers are very opinionated, laid back, helpful, friendly and mostly open minded - this forum is a reflection of that.

Me myself - Im on a car forum, and two other bike forums.

The car forum is Toyota Altezza/ Lexus IS200 - I have an Altezza - MX5's are cool, but I like my Tezz - she's a beaut. The board is kiwi driven, tho there are several Aussies and Asians who contribute. They stick to the topic, but I guess that's why I joined their forum. I get heaps of honest feedback about car parts, performance, nuances etc. They are reasonably sociable too, have meets and stuff. I've even bought a few parts through them. Sweet.

The bike forums are SV650.ORG and SV1000. SV650 is a UK driven site. Friendly enough, though into their tricking up and riding crazy styles, complaining when their bikes don't get to 100mph in xx seconds etc. Still useful. The other bike site is Spankme's SV1000 site. Full of very serious americans and poms, thankfully lightened up by some kiwi and aussie contributors. The yanks really like the candid style in which we converse, tho I suspect KB will be a bit much even for them.

Of all these forums, Kiwibiker is definately the most entertaining...:eyepoke:
