SV1000 vs Blackbird vs GSXR1000 K6 vs Hyosung 250GT - Part 3
"Rolling Thunder" - Suzuki SV1000 K3
I know this bike. I have followed two of these monsters for most of my riding career. The SV is covered in bling and is gorgeous. It has loverly Yoshi pipes and has a wonderful 'rolling thunder' sound pouring out the back. While the other two 1000cc+ bikes have very smooth engines that wizz up to astronomical revs (it seems) the SV VTwin rubbles along effortlessly. Last week I was in awe of the power this bike had (obviously compared to the HB) but I had ridden two bikes now that were faster, and I was probably in a better frame of mind now to judge. Nah bollocks...it was awesome. I didnt get any higher than 1/4 throttle with any of these bikes so i cant judge really.
The bike felt quite similar in comfort with the other two. The 'bird was quite stretched out but comfortable. The GSXR's bars were lower but the seat closer. The SV's seat was higher (more of an issue in town traffic) than the others but still felt comfortable. I think that I felt my throttle wrist getting a bit sore but Im sure i could shake it out from time to time.
Hyobag - 05 Hyosung GT250 Comet (Nekid)
We arrived at the Lake Ferry Pub (not Poo's pub apparently) and sat down to discuss the bikes - Top Gear stylez. We were there for a while which is good, cause I had to ride my bike back.....*cringe*.
I was quite surprised. I noticed straight way how upright the ridding stance was. Obvious I know, but it still struck me. I didnt miss the power of the other bikes. I WANT the power...I think...but didnt notice it wasnt there like a missing limb or something. We nutted along...me at the back...and I felt the bike was great. The suss is very soft and steering is all over the place as a result (as DMan observed earlier), but for some reason...since it was a known quantity...it was reasuringly all over the place. Obviously I know my bike and dont know the others, so I can corner and cruise more confidently. This would change in time. The brakes were wooden too
.
This bike is a GREAT learners bike. Its not the fastest 250cc, its def not the smallest either. The sussp is suss. The rear-suss is fiddle-able but I never bothered. But it looks great IMHO. Its a bit too traditional for my liking but looks cool compared to all the other new 250s (barring italian 250s). I constantly have had surprised expressions when people have been told of the small capacity of the bike. Thats fine by me

...finale coming next...patience my young padawan...
