I've not had the privilege of having some bikes or bikes following behind me while filtering. How do you know they want to go faster? How do they let you know?

Correct. I actually felt really terrible/guilty but there was nowhere to pull over and nothing I could do about it given how and where the traffic was at (despite the opinions some may have).
