Every day, rain or shine I ride my bike to and from work in town. Yesterday I had an appointment so I decided to take the car. At this point I will fess up to all you 4x4 haters, and admit I drive a Hilux in my 'spare time'...
So I'm on my way out of town, crawling at pretty much 5k max in the traffic, when suddenly I'm subjected to one of those sickening, glass breaking, crunching, noises and the surging forward of said Hilux... I'd been hit, in the rear...
During those split seconds I glanced in my rear view mirror to see two helmets! Oh shit! I suddenly developed that churning stomach feeling as I knew, somehow, that the two helmets I'd seen were not the ones that had hit me.
Well, two bikes pulled over to the left and I did the same, another bike pulling up behind. It seems that a young guy on L plates, I'm not sure of the make of bike, had clipped another biker, then rear-ended me!!
Anyway all was OK and no-one was injured but for the grace of god! The younger guy must have had all his birthdays in one go, as he had got away with a busted headlight and some slightly dented pride! I had some light damage to the rear bumper. The two other bikers who stopped were very good and were happy to swap details as witnesses. Neither were KB'rs as I did a bit of a name drop.
Anyway, I thought I'd relate this story just to show how life can turn things around.
If the young guy who hit me is a KBr and happens to read this post, then you are a bloody lucky lad!! Take it easy mate life is too short.
