Yip, I'm sure Lars let him do that to his drum sound.....NOT! Bob Rock might have been their producer (Didn't know that he had been booted, please back this up with a link to the article) but he is a fucking good producer. But if you think that Lars and the rest of MetallicA simply let him change their sound by himself then you don't know MetallicA well enough.

And yes, Kid (k)Rock isn't a musicians arse, don't think he's great just cause he's had Pamela Anderson, don't forget she has had Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) and Bret Michaels (Poison)......

I saw the Greatest Albums show, I think it was the first one, it was about the Black album.

In it Lars said he didn't speak to Bob Rock for two years! Theirs no way He let him purposefully change the sound. Lars had a plan for that album.

I don't have an article, I only heard it off a couple of different people. Sigh, I hope he is. Aging wannabe rocksters piss me off.

St Anger (hereby referred to as Stanger) is all the worst parts of Tool (do they have a good part even!?), Linkin Park, and Iggy Pop.

Here is the Official What Is Shit List

    • Slipknot
    • Tool
    • Linkin Park
    • Any form of modern "punk"
    • All forms of country
    • All hip-hop, rap (excluding NWA) and ghetto

Here's the Official Stuff That Rules list
    • Old School Metallica
    • Megadeth
    • Evergrey
    • Children of Bodom
    • G 'n' R
    • Most instrumental guitar
    • N.W.A
    • Skid Row

If you disagree you are wrong.

Yeah, he's about as narrow minded as you can get

But I do agree with most of what he said, only Slipknot have one or two goods songs and so do Tool, and I like Greenday to a certain extent (I'm surprised he didn't mention them and just said modern punk) for their political veiws

But what do I know? :spudwhat: (take the bait OMGWTFBBQ, you know you want it)

i have a broad range of musical tastes.. leaning toward the 80's metal ( Dio, Black Sabbath, Maiden etc) i also like a bit of Classical ( Wagner and "heavier" stuff like Carmina Burana), a bit of industreal (NIN, KMFDM, Lords of Acid)

i hate rap, i hate country and i really hate 'sugar pop'

grew up on Boston , Journey , Styx, Hendrix, Foghat, Zepplin, ( late 70's arena rock)

i still find modern rock songs i like though..although the radio has them on power rotation ( EVERY BLOODY 3 HOURS!!!)

    Just my 5c worth.

I grew up listening to Metallica and Iron Maiden, had all their albums. Lost interest in IM after a while, but still love to put on their tracks be it from an early album or their later stuff. Metallica however changed (their decision) from what I knew and loved (Kill 'em all, Ride the lightning, Master of puppets, etc) into commercialised crap. (I back this up by asking how many songs off the albums I listed have you ever heard on main stream radio, yet a few singles off of their latest albums get excessive playtime).

And to really top this off, I saw a Vanessa Kroll lookalike (could've been her, fucked if I know) doing a cover of Nothing Else Matters on a piano the other day. When your 'heavy metal' songs start getting covered by artists like this, with from memory a piano in an open field in the video, you've got problems.

Isn't it strange that as soon as any form of niche artist goes maintstream and becomes incredibly popular they are "selling out".....strange how people always seem to think that, all the fucking time.
Did Ozzy sell out for going on MTV? Or for creating the huge mega success that is the Ozzfest? Did all those artists sell out for going on that huge commercial road show?
And if someone wants to cover Nothing Else Matters on the piano let them, it's a fucking tribute to MetallicA isn't it. As for the latest singles getting airtime, it's called getting playlisted, DJ's aren't DJ's any more, they are given a list of what to play by the record labels, who dominate what we listen to.

Aargh!! It just fucking irks me how many people don't acknowledge MetallicA as still being a good heavy band, it's like it's almost a trend not to like MetallicA cause it make you more metal or some shit like that!!!!!!

I've heard a cover of Nothing Else Matters being done by the Gregorian Monks. Took me ages to convince mum that it was a Metallica song.
I think the phrase rhymes with "Clucking Bell" - Blackadder

But you see, I still love Metallica plenty. I just prefer their old stuff. Hell, I've got a Master of Puppets poster on my wall. They changed their musical style, for money or otherwise, I don't paticuarlyery care, but it's just not a style that I like. For that simple reason, that they drastically changed their music around the time they got a producer, I will refer to them as "selling out". And my list of stuff that is good was merely a piss take.

    Well, almost
