Culture is something that is respected, not abused.
Also it is something that changes. Those who dont like that concept should remain neanderthals (sp?)
The guy had no right to headbutt, he wasnt doing a traditional welcoming in the first place.

    Of course it's assault!
It's got nothing to do with protocol beyond the usual good manners one should display anywhere in public - the tourist paid to see a show, a display of dancing, singing & eat some hangi food. Maybe some sheep shearing-I don't know.
It's a circus for the entertainment of paying guests where the performers put on costumes and paint lines on their faces with marker pens.
The defence of breach of protocol should have no relevance in this situation.

Would have been real bad bad luck if the guest who got the broken nose found THAT was culturaly insensitive to HIM - AND the only cultural response was mashing the nose-breakers face into ground.

What would be the reaction THEN??

Do you mean a Boer thread, do you know they had Mauser and Martini rifles then ? The Boers had it all over the rest of us - bolt action five shot high velocity smaller calibre vs a single-shot falling block large calibre low velocity rifle.

BTW Some of my rellies were raped, their cattle stolen and a whole lot of them killed about 200+ years ago, can I claim compensation for this????

Yeah, it's a 'pig' of a 'root', 'bores' the shit out of most of us, it's just delivering 'litter' and it's not one of the 'sounder' ways of making a living, you have to keep a 'crckling' pace to please the 'swine'.

I suppose you 'trot' around in life making 'silk purses out of sows ears' but the rest of us are avoiding 'rash'ers of 'swine fever'.

There's snout much I can do about it if you insist on ham-bushing a thread and then sty-mying any attempt to bring it bacon track?
