DON'T RIDE LIKE YA STOLE IT, RIDE TO SURVIVE.
Yet again we see that thing about why support one racer and not another....
TS is getting the profile, so lets just get behind him. Remeber, you can always help out one of the other guys/gals too, if you wish. But lets not get into a repeat of the team KB thread....
If you feel that someone else needs supporting, start an auction for them, offer to manage them, or whatever. I´ve chosen to throw my limited resources behind TS because I think he´s got potential, and I´ve known him for a long time. Wish I could do more, but I´m 12,000 miles away and dont have a job.......
Queiro voya todo Europa con mi moto.... pero no tengo suficiente tiempo o dinero.....
I agree with the sentiment that not just one rider should be supported. Im working of an idea in my mind about a genuine team KB, where a group of racers, who are all memeber of KB can benefit... once its all clear in my head I will post it. Yes the likes of TS will benefit, but so will other racers on KB, someone like K14 or KK for example, Im thinking that they will will have to meet certain criteria to be part of the team, however I think it would be a great way for all the talented racers on KB to benefit. Let me me iron it out in my head first, then I will ask what you guys think.
EDIT: I think what you are doing is great Quasi!

Yeah thats all nice and fluffy and in an ideal world I would support all racers, even I could do with some extra cash for tyres repairs etc for my race bike however TS is my mate and this is about him continuing with the national series.

Yo Quasi what does TS do for a living?? Maybe the money could be used to do a course or training or something that will give him a raise - let him ask for more pay when he finishes it???Originally Posted by Quasievil

Ouch, that would of hurt.
I'm not going to pretend I know two smoker or the reasoning behind his decision, so I'll not pass judgment based on my ignorance.
The rest of this post is just my personal opinion on sponsorship in general in NZ and not a personal judgment on any one.
As we are a very small population and with motorcycle racing being a minority sport that is not shown on television, the sad fact is that sponsors very RARELY get any where near the return that they put into it (yet alone a profit).
Therefore the majority of sponsors are just doing it because they are enthusiasts and love the sport and genuinely want to help the rider/s they support.
As up and coming riders progress and larger sponsors are found, why the hell burn off the old sponsor, will that sponsor feel like helping out the next up and coming rider? I think not.
In my 20 years of racing on and off, I've seen many prima donas come and thankfully go. They all seem to think that because they are such fabulously fast riders the sponsors owe them everything. I've seen riders at the top level do 8 laps on a new tyre in practice, then demand another one be fitted for qualifying. I've also seen a fully sponsored rider drop his machine, smash the engine side cover, pick the bike up, look down at the smashed cover with dirt PACKED into the side of the exposed motor, arrogantly push the starter button and ride back to the pits. Next race, surprise surprise it blew up 3 laps in. The next year that distributer did not sponsor anyone. Big surprise. Not.
I'm very, very fortunate that I have a personal sponsor that is an out and out enthusiast (dickytoo) Without his help I would not be able to race, end of story. So a HUGE thanks to you Richard.
For the first time in years, I got the courage to approach a bike shop for assistance, but before I did, I got some good results. I then wrote an article for the local paper extolling the virtues of the local bike shop and making it clear how their expert help and assistance had enabled me to get the result I got.
The paper printed the story and only THEN did I approach the shop. I showed them the article (they had already seen it) and told them this was the sort of thing I can do for them. The end result was some free workshop hours and I was STOKED.
So, since the sponsor is unlikely to get dick all return for the $$$ spent, I feel riders should be concentrating on what they can offer the sponsor, not the other way around.
Rant over
