The great KB Rotorua Luge run!!! 17th Dec

This weekend sees the great KB Taupo track day, so a lot of us are heading that way.. Why not a little break some time in the afternoon at Rotorua? Thinking around 3, may be 4-ish (depending on what the day does etc), and we meet up at the luge for a quick pre-race race down the luge and a quick bite to eat and refresh, then carry on to Taupo.. I'm staying in Rotorua, so I'll be heading off to the spa after that

But I thought it could be a heap of fun (or disaster) since so many of us will be on the way there..

I hear they have tamed it down a lot - for instance you can't go fast enough to get airborne down the first hill now and there is no FAST section up the second hill, just some namby-pamby-half-arsed twisty bits. It still amazes me that they haven't banned motorcyclists from it yet. It's always mayhem, but the Jap tourists seem to like watching(don't we all?).

Yeah, it has been tamed down a lot, the fast track is now full of chicanes, the intermediate track is the best now

can't come, but wanted to chip in the 2 cents on the tracks...

The scenic is not fast, but with the off camber corners, usually you end up losing contact with the ground with some wheels. Straights aren't fast unless you keep the speed up. Sightseers make for excellent chicanes, but my brother ran wide on a corner and tried a layby... mmmm not good, people are stopped in those :slap:

Intermediate is very good, I like the area under the lines, left hand hairpin with late apex, then drop down straight, then slight left, slight right, then run wide for tightening right... lots of fun

Fast has been tamed down too much...used to be a scary buzz, saw many a person losing pity that med centre wasn't always manned.

Please tell me you will be wearing your leathers, and someone will take shots??

hell, a race is a race, and where KB is in, it's fukin carnage. The fast track has some new chicanes in it for sure. But where you used to be able to run 3 abreast into that drop, it'll be 3-2 at the first chicane, then 2-1 at the next! Bagsy in the middle.. Plus, for the 'larger' cunts amongst us, gravity is your friend.. The scenic route, is a challenge

Nah, the Fast track's pretty homosexual now BJ, so you'll be the only one who wants to ride it
