Is the middle east part of Asia aswell, or is it part of Europe? If it's part of Asia, why are they not called Asians aswell? Does anybody really care about the middle east?
The Middle-East is the Eurasian interstice.

IMO, and based on information from others in the community, one of the problems with Asian drivers was some of students that came in in the past Many had dodgy licenses, no license, or just poor skills and experience on NZ's crap roads. Combine with cheap, fast cars, freedom from the folks, a peer group and money, and it all ends in tears.

so, erm....talking about continents.... what's the pasifika people then? Australis or Asiaticus?
Or is it true that some place just don't belong into those continental areas?

    Here's a random answer.

A lot of these descriptors are hangovers from our colonial age. "The Middle East" is the "Far West" from our point of view. American news agencies would have you believe that "Asia" includes everything from Saipan to Iran and also including us poor fuckers who, depending on which Merkin classroom map you use as a reference either exist twice, or not at all. There's bugger all in common between your average Japanese, Pakistani, and rednecked Tui drinker. Unless you're an "Asian" news anchor with an American accent...

Sorry. Back to your question. You forgot Africa. Why can't the Middle East be part of Africa? I wonder what the people who live there call it? Probably something that losely translates as "home", I suspect.

Africa is from Egypt to southwest of it.
Middle East is definitely not Africa.
err....hang on....actually, is Egypt middle east too?

    Gahhhhh!

    Enough with this already.

A continent is a single land mass. In fact a quite large land mass. By definition a fucking big ocean containing a few scroty islands cannot be a continent. Therefore speculating about how its occupants should be classified, based on some continentally-inspired nomenclature, is an exercise in fantastic futility. And please, don't get started on the Olympic rings.

Odd how something I just sorta thought of earlier today has led to all this and now seems to be causing Hitcher some problems.

Ive fallen victim to shiteloads of different drivers, and can't honestly say that Asians have any sort of majority. In fact if truth be told, the worst drivers I have encountered are the "silvers", who are the 65+ brigade, who travel at 40kph in a 50k zone, and then suddenly, with no indication, make a right hand trun from the centre of their lane.\

They are easily identifiable, as they mostly drive Misti Colts, or Diahatsu Charades, with a tartan rug thrown over the back seat, or a bowling hat up in the rear window tray (if driving a sedan)

    Approach with caution.

Saw polite, patient, well educated drivers. Typical Kiwi attitude shown here, blatant ignorant generalisation.

What needs to be addressed in NZ backward laws in certain areas regarding road rules, and the lack of proper driver trsting carried out in this country. To get a licence in Japan costs a lot of money (ie you don't want to fail it at all so you practise lots) and also requires driver training. In NZ it requires a small display of car control and answering a few questions, which I've heard the testers provide the answers to if the applicant is struggling.
But that's the point, we aren't talking about Japanese but people of Chinese origin. It is a well publicised fact that you can just buy your licence in China without showing any ability or skill behind the wheel of a car. Then they turn up here and the bloody LTSA let them drive here on their worthless licences for one year.

Someone needs to clue up the LTSA to this fact.

Here's some generalisations from my time as a driver tester:
Chinese drivers are slow and oblivious to anything around them, they learn enough by rote to get a licence and that's all they do.
Koreans aren't called the Italians of Asia for nothing.
Middle eastern people have real problems with speed control.
Kiwi learners are good while they're new, retesting drivers who've been driving a while shows their true level of arrogance mixed with incompetence.
Russians are quite good drivers and their women are gorgeous.
Many elderly drivers shouldn't be on the road, but their saving grace is that they tend to use roads they know well and usually cope OK.
Some driving instructors don't warrant the name. They don't even teach correct driving posture.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

My wife is European from Europe. She has the opinion that NZ drivers are one fo the worst in the world. Inconsiderate, impatient and with delusions of grandeur making them drive like lunatics on "P". Mind you, I drive like a lunatic at times, so do most of the KB riders in here. Figure why we have accidents on KB regularly, especially on organised rides, but yet do dont complaint kiwi riders.
