    Go for the Megadeth!

Learn a few songs entirely, including the marty solos, then ease yourself into Marty Friedmans solo works.

Dragon's Kiss and Music For Speeding are must-haves.

Right now I'm knee-deep in Jason Becker. Still. The day that I can play Altitudes in its entirety is not too far off.

If you're enjoying Symphony X right now, see how you go on Smoke And Mirrors. Really trick sweep intro (how's your sweep technique?), and some really awesome lead-like riffs.

    Sweep?

Are we talking Yngwie J Malmsteen type wankery here?
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Yep, 'fraid so. Difference is Michael Romeo is a far more engaging guitarist than Malmstein ever was so he dosen't play your typical shredder guitar wank.

Been learning some Mudvayne songs myself lately. "Happy?" and "Forget to Remember" rock hard.

"Smoke and Mirrors" never did that much for me. I prefer the DWoT album as a whole. "Pharoh" and "The Eyes of Medusa" are my other two favourites along with the title track.

I have a Line6 Spider 212, with a red big-body Ibanez (same shape as the Gibson one the Beatles used I think), and a blue Squire Bullet (which I plan to finish modding to the blink182/Tom Delonge model Strat when I eventually get round to it)

I play a lot of different music, eg: KoRn, Smashing Pumpkins, Orgy, blink182, and a lot of others

I mostly play a Yamaha BB-G5A 5-string bass through a Carvin (Red Eye) 600W amp. Combo works OK for me. Also have an Ovation Ultra 6string guitar - nice tone but don't play it much since starting on the bass some 5+ years ago.

Does anyone have a fretless bass colecting dust? Would like to give one a go.

How on earth do you attach 6 strings to a baby that young! That's just inhumane, and I dont care how strong the neck is.

Nah - a set of 9-42 Ernie Balls would hardly stretch her out of alignment.

When they get bigger you go to the 11-56's that's when they start to squeal ...
