    Home PC repair/tuner needed

Folks my home pc although working is well in need of a sort out.
theres a fair few pop up messages apearing and in general its on a big time go slow.
I need someone to sort it out for me.
It needs someone who sorts out home PC software for a living to come do it.
Please gimme a yell if you can do this
Oh and please don't bother saying to me about defragbotremovalflyspyware and how ya can just upload a whatever cos my eyes just glaze over.
Of course I dont expect it to be done for nuffing--Id just rather give the work to a KBer rather than a non KBer

Tristank, I have some spare copies of CA antivirus and antispyware software if it's any use to Frosty.

Hmm is that eTrust EZ Antivirus? If you do have spare liscences that would be great, I'd rather keep things legal if you know what I mean :P being a public forum and all...

I have my own anti-spyware program cocktail that comes on a flash drive for these sort of purposes, so that side is all covered.

Frosty I feel for ya .
There is adware out there called 180solutions and this must be the M#$%^&& of all popup/adware

I read all the info I could, registry.... delete this ......bash that...drink heavily and it would STILL come back,

Even Specialized 180solutions killer soft ware didnt do it, ( you had to do EXACT things in a certain order, and I didnt know half of what to do !!!)

in the end I saved as much info as I could, and with lots of help
Formated the drive ... as in the nuked it with a small thermo device !!!!

Now I reinstalled everything NON microsoft , mozilla, open office etc

ran adware checker last nite ,,,,,nothing ...one tracking cookie

    Very happy me

If you have an virus by 180solutions my heart goes out to ya !!

    good luck

180solutions is childs play when it comes to ANY CoolWebSearch.

But I know what ya mean Stephen. Its common enough to get the hang of the filenames and deleting them. You just have to know where to look.

The thing that gets me is, no 2 machines or infections are the same, one set of procedure might work on 2 machines, different on 3rd, then different again on the 6th.

Yes Tristank thats the one, best I've found for older machines, let me know how I can get it to you, I'll get you a copy of the spyware one and you can check it out, sometimes I've found that a single app is an advantage for those who don't keep up with latest changes in spyware trends, I don't use CA for initial removal though. I don't think it's that good.

Tristank, I had a quick look at Frosty's machine when I picked up my bike. I'd say flatten it and install WinXP (after backing up anything that Frosty wants to keep of course). Hell, if Frosty wants to courier the machine down to me I'll do it (used to do this stuff for a living).

A quick job? Spyware is the never-ending-saga of scan, clean, scan, clean, update, scan, clean, hope...

Format C: is the only way to be sure.
