I do agree that sometimes the number of crashes that happen on KB rides is out of the ordinary. Why? I don't know, and unless you were there BB you don't either. You make a good point that the number of crashes is far too high. The best outcome is that those that are involved learn something from it. Either they learn how to control themselves (its not the bikes fault, they do go around corners under normal circumstances) properly or they learn that biking is not for them. Because it's not for everyone.

You guys gotta get your shit together just because you can buy a fast bike does not mean you can handle them. Learner licences are just that - and cutting corners and riding on wrong side of road will teach you the ultimate lesson -

young guys in particular think they are bullet proof - but a check of this site will show you otherwise,
A fast bike... please... sam was riding an fxr150..... and placid wasn't going particularly fast either. Road conditions and lack of experience contributed to these incidents NOT bad riding.

Shit happens people die it's not nice to hear but it's life. Don't lump everyone into the same steriotype of young male and bulletproof if they crash.

I'm glad there were no internet forums when I was younger - because I was soooo much more stupid,my bikes were sooo much inferior.....but my speed was soooo much slower, the traffic sooo much less.I had so much more time and depth of experiance to learn in,these days they jump in the deep and and sink or swim.

It all comes back to the nut that holds onto the handlebars.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's a case of riding with others who are too far beyond ones skill level and being led into situations without seeing one is exceeding ones limits

When I was younger every time a newbie rode with us it was a fair bet they would crash.

then the rider who is leading is not considering the newbie, the newbie should be directly behind ride leader and leader should raide at speed to suit the newbie - some one else should bring up the rear with out pushing the speed up

Rider as fast as the newbie is comfortable.

on out side of corner then they were going to fast for their ability - was leader setting to fast a pace maybe, dont blame the road conditions the other 4 got around. thats bullshit - blame goes to riders and ride leader

i don't seem to understand what your trying to get at. that they crashed? or that they posted they crashed?
and think it is ok - that they posted they crashed as some sort of badge of honour - in my day we shut up about fuckups like that we we not pround of them and theat one rider proceeded to expound how he crashed - my question was if you koinw why it happened how dumb do you have to be to NOT stop it happening in the first place

Can you imagine any other group of people who set out to go some where ie:
    the MG car club or the trike club or the pushbike club who set out with 6 vehicles of what ever type and had only 2 thirds of them arrive;
thats fucking appalling and if you werent so politically correct you would agree with me

shit riding is shit riding - put the blame where it belongs - the rider

if you are so fucking bad sell your bike before you die.

You can wear fucking armour all you like but you are going to die sooner rather than later.
Lol you should be talking to Dover....

Dude you're making us sound old :P

Ha I had the same upbringing tho.... that cow shit you slide out on the 90 degree bend you take on the farm bike at 60kph perfectly replicates a 190kph slide on a wet shiny patch on a sportbike....mind you sometimes you end up in that shit LMAO

That corner that Placid came down on was a real shit one and I can say that it definately required the skill that comes with experience. I know for one that I had a relatively tough time on that corner and I'm sure the other three riders did too.

Yeah crashing is not good but it's something that comes with riding a bike - I've binned twice since I started riding about 16 months ago and both those times were my own fault. I honestly believe that I learnt a lot from those two crashes and in a way glad that they occured, fortunately I was not badly injured.

Hope everything works out soon and sweet with the insurances to sort out the two bikes.

I reckon Internet forums are great. Members get to share the experiences of a much larger group than they would otherwise have contact with and hopefully, learn from them rather than make the same mistakes themselves.

These recent posts about crashes and fatalities continue to remind me of how dangerous motorcycling can be, and that it doesn't only happen to the inexperienced. It's very easy to forget just how quickly things can turn to custard on a bike when you're having fun carving up the twisties. All you need is an SUV coming the other way at precisely the wrong moment and you're history - literally. Would we get this kind of reminder if people didn't post about their bins? I'm willing to bet that the overconfident young ones are more likely to read an internet post than the newspaper!

I don't see posting about your bins as a badge of honour - it's just sharing your latest (and relatively significant) motorcycling experience. I was following Tammy when she made her little mistake that I am sure she has learned a lot from. As a group we talked about whether it should be posted or not for reasons that have become obvious.

I hope the comments of a minority aren't enough to put others off sharing their experiences in the future.

Well then blame me all you want. I wanted to go a bit faster so i took off. They knew they couldn't keep up and so didn't try. going wide does not necessarily mean fast. If you would have been there you would have some idea. If yuo are going the right speed or even slower for the corner and it tightens and you freak then that's where the problem is.

As for the other four getting thorugh as dave said i remember that corner and it was pretty shit but experience helped the rest of us through. Don't blame the ride leader. this was an unofficial ride. If noob's wanna come they have to realise that there will be people going faster and slower. On the ride I spent some time following both Sam and Placid. And i can say that although thier technique needed a little work they were riding well within thier limits.

As the saying goes if you assume you make an ass out of u amd me. In this case just you.

P.S. ... *gives placid and sam thier badges*

thanks aff and everyone was setting their own pace as was sam, i thought it was excellent of the slower ones not trying to catch up.
