cemetary circuit...weather looks good!

after a day of wind and rain yesterday, today has dawned lovely and sunny with wind. doesnt seem too bad now, but has been getting strong and then dropping off again. perfect day for the races...was sure it was going to be messy after the weather yesterday and for the past week.

It was a lovelly day. I wasnt in leathers (jeans) and idnt have a leather jacket but I imagine that the weather was mercifully cool enough for it not to be too uncomfortable.

yep, weather was tops...rather glad about that cos it meant the coffee machine needed little maintinence.

i hate all those pricks at the races and then goin to see jimmy! my bad call, decided i couldnt be bothered goin this year, regretted it all day! Oh well, always next year!

I shat the bed at 0530 hours here in the naki. Bugger me, it was still raining here at home! I quickly decided to leave the CBR at home and ride the TT down to Wanganui, due to its better handling in the rain. Donned the wet weather gear and I was off at about 0700 hours. It became apparent that the weather was clearing and the frount was going the almost opposite of the direction I was travelling. By the time I was in Stratford, I was really wishing that I had brought the sprotbike. However I think I enjoy riding the trail bike just as much. Made my day when I passed a semi- modern sprotbike on the way down. Looked like a timid rider who might not have known the road. Gave him a wave and he followed for awhile but with a mix of traffic and slower courners, that rider disappeared. I got to the cuircit rather early and was the 7th person in the secured parking area that the Triumph crew was running. Tell ya what it was the best 10 dollars I spent on the day, the bbq sasauge and backon on bread was what I needed for breakfast (which I had forgotten about) cheers! Got to have a good look around and I was quite impressed with the layout. Saw some familiar faces and went up to all the people with KB colours on and introduced myself. It was great talking to you all and I hope our paths cross again. I do know that as soon as I'm back at work, I'm applying for leave for the next years race day. Coming back was uneventfull, until I passed a large blue Cagiva with two people on it. I waved, but got a finger in return. Made me laugh though, made me more determined to keep the nana rider behind me, whoever it is, thanks for complying and not putting the hammer down

Got a few pictures, would have taken more, but the batteries went flat and I did not bring more

I might get 'skelstar' embroidered on my cap. Got a few funny looks (maybe the shirt/cap combo) but thats fairly normal.

What a great day. I wasn't going to go but when you are awake at 4.30am you just got to stop and think about the day. So on with the gear and off to meet the others at 7. Great ride from Hastings with no tickets or any other crap. Glad I took my 2.5 litters of frozen water with me. With that and the hat I feel good now but I saw some very nasty sun burn around the track. A few people will be sorry now. Meet some KBer's as I went around the track. Great to have the shirts and it was cool to put some faces to names. Great ride home. Two and a half hours. Darn it was a nice ride home. Thanks to the KBer's I rode over and back with. Big thank you to Grumpy and his wife. You guys rock and to be able to put the gear in a motel room for the day and use the loo at the end of the day was soooooo good. They deserve a DB.
Time to sleep. This is a great place to be part of. I look forward to reading other reports.

I saw you there gixxer4eva I think. Well, someone had a kiwibiker shirt on with that written across the front of it. I was just about in introduce myself but then I got caught in a conversation with others and by the time I turned round you were gone. Fantastic day racing. Loved the big bikes playing. I could watch those guys on one wheel all day. Had to take the car but the trirp home wasn't too bad. Got pretty jealous of all the bikes lane splitting as I sat in my place in the queue. Was well impressed with that GSX 56. What a great job he did!

If my body didn't hurt so much I would have gone for a ride tonight but there you go. Early night for this young lad me thinks.

didnt get to see any of the races except the 3rd to last with all the top riders in it. spent most of the day in the fridge stocking up drinks and heating pies. so....many.....pies........

saw part of the first sidecar race [love those things!!] and thats about it. didnt even really hear the bikes cept for the dirtbike ones....the real loud ones, lol. lots of bikers inside though, so was good to be surrounded by family, though i bet 98% didnt even realise! [2% being the kbers i spoke too.]

all in all, thanks to the majority of the people that came in and caused no trouble, and for being patient when things stuffed....the tills and the coffee machine. was a good day.

Yep that was me. With my L&P bottleof frozen water.
Yep Craig is the man. The bike I ride at the moment, on the road, is the one he raced in the the 96-97 Battle of the streets. GSX-R 750V. It has a few bent bits cos Craig dropped it at speed when he had it. So for that reason alone I tend to follow what he is doing and it was so good to see how smooth and even he was today. I recon he is getting better as time passes. Sorry to hear you had to take the cage. It was such a nice ride today. My ears are a bit red and with the ear plugs in the for the radar thingy, on the way home, I realised I needed a bigger hat. Hope to meet you next time.

Yeah mint day guys, just got back now. Really hot, really sunburnt and really sore. Such a short stop/start circuit it is quite physical. Good to meet heaps of kber's too. Seemed that every time you looked around there was a t-shirt to be seen.

Results weren't too bad, two smoker carved up in f3, I managed to get 2 20's and qualified 21st for the final invitational race but decided that i'd pack up for the day.
