Honda NT400 Bros - opinions wanted

I'm seriously thinking of upgrading at the moment, and the choice is either a better 250 or something bigger.

A 650 will probably be too much for me, so I've been looking at the 400's that are available. I quite like the Honda NT400 Bros, and there's a couple up for sale at the moment.

Has anyone owned/ridden one? What are they like to ride? Are they reliable? did you have any trouble getting parts? etc etc.

    Any help and comments appreciated.

All I know is that the 400 Bros goes faster than you'd imagine a 400 should. A Ulysses guy down here has one and it goes extremely well and seems to have been totally reliable for years. Its fast and handles well.

The only issue with them now really is that none of them are young bikes so you'd need to get one that hasn't had all its life used up.

    Hi there!

I have a 400 Bros which I have had for about 15 months. I did about 22,000k last year on it. I take it on long trips and also use it for going to work. Goes really well and I have had no trouble with it. It had 25,000k on the clock when I bought it.

Jeff also has Bros 650 (one of his many bikes!). We have had his bike a about 18 months and have had no trouble with his bike either, except for him dropping it in a ditch in the South Island recently (see page 6 General Biker Ravings "Xmas trip and Jeff's first bin). We took both Bros's up to Taupo and down round the top half of the South Island at Xmas.

We also know the Ulysses member who has a Bros and he has clocked up 150,000k on his bike.

We both find the Bros's really good bikes and would recommend a Bros.

If you need any further info, just drop us a line!

Forgot to mention - the one thing we altered with both bikes when we bought them was to move the handlebars out a bit to make for a more comfortable riding position.

Chrissie (Jeff) we haven't heard much from you, only 22 posts as I write this, but I do remember meeting you on the ride way back in 2004 here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=4971

Look forward to seeing you on another ride sometime.

Here's the Ulysses guy with his Bros - many will recognise him. Great bike from what I saw riding behind him as runs leader on many occasions.

Good bike - I blew mine up but it was a cheap dodgy one and I think it didnt have much oil in it at the time. Dunno about spares, but I had great fun on mine. Comfortable at 100, can do 150 nicely. Handles like it is on rails too Get BT45s on it - dual compound so good mileage and I had the pegs scraping with no great grip issues....
