    Hamilton area revenue gathering.

Went with my dad to Hirequip for something he needed to finsish the sleepout and while we were thereabout 7 or 8 cops showed up and started laying out road cones. I make a remark to on the the folks at the counter if something was going on at the Claudlands fair grounds. Nope seems the cops like setting up a liscence and rego check right there. Even follow people that pull into the Hirequip parking area.

What makes this revenue gathering is there is a VTNZ no more than 10 meters from the road block. The only reason I can think of them setting it there is to catch people going in to get warented and registerd done if it had lapsed a few days before. It also doesn't make sense for them to have so many cops standing around when I can't see why 2 can't do it and maybe 4 if some drivers get a bit upset about being ticketed. 7 cops is just a waste of resources.

They even tried pulling me over on the bike when I pulled into the parking lot to return the pipe crimper my dad rented. I just ignored the fucker. My bike is registerd and warrented. I wasn't gonna waste my time just because some beurocrat higher up wants a bigger paycheck.

Queens Ave is an popular spot over this side of town. They were there after lunch today again. They like a street that is busy and has corners so drivers cant see what they are heading for...

Lol bad mood makes me bold. Probably wouldn't have done it on a normal day. Still pisses me off though. And that here if you get a ticket for out of date rego and warrent you have to pay it even if you get it done that same day. As I said in the above post, the majority of peaple on that street with out of date rego and warrent will be going to the testing centre to get it done these cops were targeting them to get money.

If they really wanted to get people purposely driving non warrentable cars they would be on Te Rapa thursday, friday, saturday nights. Fill thier quota of speeding tickets too.

Might want to check your facts before spouting off, Police policy states don't issue tickets to regos out under 1 month and offer compliance/warnings on wofs out under 1 month. Which is kind of strange given its all about revenue gathering now isn't it?

I pay my rego on time and get my wof on time, why is it revenue gathering to expect others to do the same? I don't see how you can attack the cops for going after losers in unwarranted and unregistered cars.

Odd you say that since they ticketed my dad for his cage a while ago yet the rego only ran out the day before. He got it done that day but still had to pay the ticket.

Must have been a long while ago then, thats been the policy for quite some time now. Not quite sure why they brought it in seeing as its all about revenue gathering though, crazy.

Only a couple months ago actually.

Still don't see a point for so many of them to be out there. Surely they could have spared a few to perhaps invetsigate stolen vehicles such as the Honda shadow and sidecar taken from Hillcrest area not all that long ago. Or perhaps investigate the mugging that went down the other night to a friend of mine.

it's the booze bus that sets up on brooklyn rd. it's a gold mine for disqualified drivers, stolen cars, forbidden drivers, drunken taxi drivers. nothing to do with the vtnz at all. it's a good spot too, as it can't be seen until you come around the corner, by then it's too late.

and it's each to their own job. someone has to to do the booze bus, just like someone has to police the highway, someone has to investigate the stolen cars, someone has to investigate the rapes, blah blah blah

how does it work at your work waylander, does everyone do everything? or are people actually employed to do specific jobs?

They used to do it on a couple of roads here in Mt Roskill, and I'd get a bit of work out of WoFs on the spot. It's funny watching someone doing a U turn before the check point - like, hang a I'm Guilty sign around your neck why don't ya! There is usualy a 2 week grace period on a Wof or Rego fine.

Digipoll is nowhere near that orginized. We have two peaple that have jobs beyond everyone else and that is the person who tries to get contract for surveys, and payroll. And both of them still do surveys.

Recently the staff in a station in Hamilton was told they were no longer investigating the crime in their area but were all to become traffic. If they didn't like it then they could go back to the central station and commence working night shifts again. If you have a problem with the way things are done then I suggest you speak to the people who control/change them. The poor guys on the street have no control over what they are told to do!!!!

If you don't like something then make an attempt to change it!!!!!

Wouldnt surprise me if thats the local Dinsdale station.. odds of getting service form them are slim to none.

So, if you hadn't used your car for a while, discovered the WOF has expired 2 months ago and you head down to VINZ past the road safety checkpoint, are you safe from the rozzers?
