    Whats happening?
Bikes stripped, rear fame rails chopped off, new Fender hangers welded on, 93Harley Lowrider gaurd fitted....looking good. ( same look as sportster)
Rear shock mounts redone and new shocks fitted, 15mm longer than std.
Seat has been replaced with a single sadle seat, bit of miner adjustment needed but looking the part.
Jardine 4 - 1 new full exhaust systen arrived ...sweeeeeett! ( just legal in the noise volume)
Motor on table being cleaned up ready for painting ( mandatory black)_

This weekend will see the frame cleaned down and painted...forks removed, new stearing head bearings, fork seals and front wheel bearings are ready for the reassembly.

The 160MPH clocks look awsome sitting on their mount...nice crome and shiney. Far better look than the old black square units.

    ummmmmm...................yeah!

Sadly the budjet is tight ( being a low paid labouer) ,and on some things, as per usual, need compromise.
Painting has to be a "do it yourself" act this time......But!
Being a bike made of real steel, one year or even two before a good paint job is not going to hurt the dear ole lady.
Not really into the "pics as you go"" thing, just got a vision and going for it.
oh to be sure that she will have pics taken of her when finished, Im hopeing the end result will be similar to the ride in my profile, as thats the goal.
lol, Im sure I will get both kind and unkind comments from others.
But its mine, and it dont need a computor degree to ride, tune or start!
Bit of Kiwi no 8 wire tecnoligigy getting in there too, hidden but there.

    look at what I've got

I have had this rolled up in a plastic pipe in my shed for many years, one day I will find a 1100 to go with it. I was selling bikes for a Yamaha dealer back in '79. Sold a couple of 1100's, always wanted to own one. Closest I got was arranging to buy Ginger Molloys '79 6 hour bike, was taking it straight after the 6 hr finished at 6pm, but at 5.20pm he went off Dunlop "I think from memory" and totaled it, and there ended my dreams in 1979 of owning a XS1100.

Good to see another quality Yamaha being rescued from the rust gremlins.
As I said on the other Forum, Alive, let me know what you are after for parts and I will try to help.
There are heaps of new parts availabile new for these bikes, you just got to know where to look. But dont try in NZ, as the prices for parts from dealers is over the top.Overseas shops are far better to deal with and can be up to 75% cheaper on some items

    In other news.
My Full gasket set arrived from Germany yesterday, only NZ $84, so I can start on the engine at last.
another box arrived with new wheel bearings, brake seal kits, disc pads and control levers, sweet, no more soft brakes for me.
My bodywork, tank, side covers and rear fender are ready to be collected from the painters, just waiting on the rear wheel from the dip strippers. So that can be painted and pinstriped. All in black of course!
The front fork brace arrived, looks really good, well engineered looking nice on the front end which is in pre mock up hanging in the workshop.
The frame has been modded, painted, with a few bits put back on it.
Again, all ready for the reassembly.
I am dropping the seat off at the upholsters on Wed, it is now only a single seat on the origonal base that has been trimmed and modified. It will be 25mm lower so that i sit more "in" the bike than on it. No place for a pillion on this ride!
With three weeks break from work starting in a forthight, I have only to get some solid core ignition leads, a few more bolts and a bottle of locktight to begin the reassembly.
Im looking forward to that, Yee Haa.
Should have her up and ready for a WOF by mid october at the latest.
Dont ask for progress pics, as I dont have any. But I might, just might post a final assembly pic when finnished, just to tease you all.

Its been a lot of fun this winter doing this, but boy, the credit card has taken a bit of a slam.. oh well, still cheaper than buying somebody elses trade in.And keeps a real classic on the road, if not slightly customised.
