Schmicko SubikeDont the tanks look big without the seat, howdo ya reckon the Special tank would look? I might try to find one myself...just for the painting practise eh.

To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.
Yeah a slimline tank would look better, but you need that gas to feed the ole girl, they are not known for their ecconomy. I know that a special tank would look good, but getting one without paying over the top is not that easy. Will be looking at it probably next winter, Its summer now, time to get her on the road and ride the fuck out of her again!

Your bike looks as if it'll end-up with a hint being bobbed which is in effect a copy of a flat-tracker though
They were relatively effective racers though in their time especially in endurance events
The factory full dress tourers were rare beasts, most long distance riders fitted Vetter "windjammer" fairings or la parisienne kits.
and when I say the factory full dress tourer I'm not talking about the god-awful Martini 1.1
that would have had to have been the most butt-ugly fairing fitted to a jap bike ever

Yamaha didn't produce a factory kitted touring XS11 or XS850 until 1981, they supplied OEM optional touring equipment for standard models. It was brought about by demand and the fact that YPDI couldn't keep up with demand for the touring kits.
It was aimed to compete directly at the Honda GL1100 Interstate
Europe had the Martini 1.1 which had a fairing but that was actually a design exercise that made it into production in very limited numbers.
The XS1100RH or 1.1 sport wasn't produced until late 1981 and it only had a bikini fairing
Here's a piccy of the factory edition tourer, the 1st Venturer
