That R/H side cover you said you might have with the crack? Is it still around?
The fiberglass repo ones are $120+ on a 6 mth back order and the only ones on E-Bay have been specials of 78's which are different.
If you have a pic availabile of yourone, can you PM itto me?

I saw your strip down pics on the XS11 site, good to see that you have done the big strip down for the rebuild. I dont envey what you have ahead of you.
I have done over 300k since the rebuild, only thing I have needed to change were the rear springs as they were too stiff. Ny rear tyre is now due for replacement, but funds are low, so that has to wait a week or two. Other then apearing in the Kiwi Rider mag, nothing has changed .

Hey a bit off topic but closer to home. Anyone out there have an XJ 650 with problems? cause I do and would love some answers to help me sort it out.
first one is my bike was backfiring on one of the cylinders so i switched the plug leads and it sorted it.....kind of. now it backfires all the way up into the airbox. flames etc and it doesnt matter which lead goes to which plug, the damn thing still wont run right. may also have something to do with the idle screw which screwed all the way out when the carbs jammed open.
any help would be much appreciated.

took it off and tossed it, damb thing was always dragging on the ground when cornering, dangerous as, was as bad as a harley for cornering with it fitted.
Plus it use to vibrate against the 4-1 exhaust if I tried to set it higher when folded up.
The side stand is sufficent for the needs there of.
I have even removed the mounts from the frame to tidy it up, less weight lol.

    I'm back

    Hi guys,
I've been living without internet connection for ages, and now that I'm back on line, I would like to update you on my beloved XS.
I posted earlier about a frustrating power output problem, and now, a year or two later, I'm pleased to announse that my XS now has the grunt I expect from it. The cam chain was out two teeth on both cam shafts...no wonder eh. The boys at Hamilton Motorcycle Centre worked it out in no time at all. Good on them I say.
I was going to ride to Hawera last weekend to see my rocket III riding brother, but instead converted my bike from solo to sidecar. The modifications I have made over the years (15 plus years) to the bike, sidecar and attachments, has meant that the conversion is very fast with no significant set-up adjustments required.
Ah...it's good to be back on the old girl.

Ok guys, I have been searching and this Thread is the closest I've come to an answer. I was wondering if/how putting a turbo on a yamaha xs11 could be done. I saw the pics on the previous pages but I still am wondering how one would go about running the intake set up... hopefully one of you guys can help me out....

    Thanks
    Tony

It has been done with success in the states,
Here is a link to the XS11 site
there you will find lots of info on the subject if you search

    http://www.xs11.com

But do not exspect huge improvements. 150hp is the max anyone has got doing this. The XS1100 motor gives almost it most potential in factory form, they were a hot rod engine from the start in 79.
The other thing you will have to remember is that your brakes will need a seroius upgrade to stop the beast from flight.
    Good luck
