Was a good day, certainly a different type of track than a carpark or a kart track. Those fast corners certainly sort the men out from the homos. Power helps but can't replace corner speed.

Can’t say I gave everyone ‘The Learn’, but I did set some homework & remedial reading courses.

Good work Scott who snuck up & tore past 2nd to last corner while I was knapping in one race. Won his first race (if you don't count the motard, which obviously wasn't in class). Top stuff.

The Motard was hard work (KX125 or something which was allowed out with the buckets as the rider was a junior) but I was catching in the last race.

& Mike’s MB/RG is still convincingly fast as heck.

Too bad for Bert & Rod whose bikes either didn't run or exploded.

Sorry - missed the lesson. Guess I couldn't see the blackboard from the back of the class.

Actually that was the 2nd race & Scott beat us both, in the first race I ran away & hid. Scott borrowed a circlip from me for the 2nd race & I joked about how I shouldn't have lent him anything.

The 2nd race I lined up on the back row & took a while to come through. It was a good race, - I had a plan, just it was shattered as I couldn't hear Scott coming through & his appearance startled me, it was good racecraft. Think there were 5 races in all.

There was only one practice. Anything with a warm up lap & a flag drop was a race. Not everyone stayed suited up for the last one though.

    argh.......

man oh man was i confused on the day..........

all i remeber is one practice,

    and three races......

must of fallen asleep in the other ones..........

still i may not have won but second place..... Im not complaining.

It was fun swapping places with you through out the race...

i think the last two you and speedpro claimed 1st and 2nd and i managed to hold scott off to claim 3rd.

I can see where i was going wrong now. The corner i was losing lots of time on was that right hander. i was just too much of a girl to keep the throttle open through it.....

Im sorry none of us Mainlanders could make it. Sounds like you guys enjoyed running on a proper race circuit, we are bloody lucky down here, most, if not all our riding is on the three main race curcuits. You guys might have to save you pennys and come down here for a meeting! We will be more organised an turn up for the next one. I can see a north v south challenge brewing.

Well me & Speedpro & Darrin have been down a few times. I got third in the Battle of the buckets on my 50 about 5 years ago & then was leading on my 100 before it blew up the next year (~ 4 min from the end), both on Ruapuna backcct. Will come down again some time, but to be honest the kart tracks like Blenheim, Kaitoke & Taumarunui far out shine them for excitment & skill to ride.

I like both though & also miss the old days of Ohakea, both the tarmac & the streets.

You all need to move to the mainland both Nelson and Greymouth Street races have bucket classes an we can usually cross enter in post classic.
Kart tracks are no good when your a fat arse you need all the room possible to build up a head of steam, and you get a rest on those looooong straights.

Taumarunui is not overly technical........ it cant be cause i was beating hamish there on my old RG100.... with him on his 15Hp 50.... him with all the new slicks bla bla bla....

I love kaitoke....... its fun (although i dont seem to ride very well there)
