naked fxr150?
just had to remove the plasticy front bit to bend my fairing frame back, and had a brainwave, (that i admittedly stole off other people) why not leave it like that? do i need any more rain insulation, for cables etc up front, and where can I buy a set of tacho,speedo, headlight, indicators and especially a bracket? does anyone know of someone whos done this to their fxr? I tried searching fxr150 naked on google but watchdog blocked it grrr. any help? thanks

I would recommend not doing that, you'll lose your resale value. The big drawcard of the FXR is that the fairings make it look cool for a 150cc, not to mention give you wind protection.
Just my opinion anyways.

I'm not going to throw them away, they're totally munted anyways, might have to replace them before sale as I don't think anyone would buy a busted plastic one over a perfect plastic one, because as you say, its a big drawcard, and its expensive to replace. i want to customise it a bit, make it look different. won't be selling for at least another year yet

Nipper has just completed a rg150 s/f looks cool! If you travel at motorway/ highway speeds you will probally loose top end speed and fuel economy. Nipper converted the rg due to a cage pulling out in front of him. hes used a enduro style h/light and motorcross handlebars try contacting him to find out what he used.
Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.

JS--it really aint too hard - the fxr has mirror mounts on the bars and you can get universal headlight brackets and headlights from most bike acessory shops.
I think the hard bit will be a bracket to fit the speedo/tacho unit --youll probably need to run one off of the top tripple clamp

yeah, i do mostly round town cruising, to from work, <100k. Found out my friend has an unused suzuki a100! yay i'll steal his speedo and tacho. can i just plug my socket thing that plugs into the lcd display on the fxr into a regular speedo, or will I need a converter thing?

nope it wont work... the FXR is digital, and the a100 is old school cable mech.

just so you know how much the wind affects the FXR, back straight of puke, into the wind i managed 121kmh, down the front straight wind at my back i topped it at 136kmh....
why not take off all the road gear and make it a bucket racer. Give it to me for free, put the fairings on your mountain bike and pretend that it has an engine - you know brummm brummm etc

It'll be a pretty specialised socket. How many pins? 8? Might be able to give it to an instrument place who could figure out something cheap and easy to go on it, but then the labour they'll charge will probably null out the savings. Can't hurt to ask though, get a quote, etc.

Yep, a bicycle speedo will work and only costs about $30. You might be able to get a fxr speedo off trademe but it will cost a bit more.
