Marty looks like we are the only 2 in the southern hemishere watching the Dakar!!
The turn out for the first African stage was 300 000 people. or the entire population of chrischurch !!!

    Anyway

Boorman is lost in the desert, at abou 180 place

the harley is experiencing chain problems

And a mad frenchman is attempting the dakar on a Urinal 750 sidecar ( he has crashed and the urinal is bent badly ,,,keep my fingers crossed for that one ( how else are the others going to do No 1 s if the urinal is broken !!!

Up date.... THE URINAL IS OUT ,,,,( strangely the engine is ok but the gps is munted !)

Mr Borman has fought his way back up to 153rd on the trip to tan tan. (am looking at dakar.com) - is 6h54m behind.

Despite this being one of or possibly the biggest motorsport event on Earth, the news would still prefur blabbering on about cricket, rowing and rugby and will even talk about rugby in Australia if nothings happinging here. Why????

possibly why NZ is not removing the cap from the internet as people will start watching internet ad free, programes you WAANT to watch TV

poor ole TVNZ will be left with the poor guy on the west coast who when the atmospheric conditions are just right ,,,he can see a picture through the snow.....

No urinals in the desert ,,,,,I was hoping it would have at least finished !!!

    Calldicott Killed at Dakar

The Aussie rider who three years ago was struggling to get the entrance free was killed instantly in a crash at the 250km mark of stage 9 .

That was a surprising and very sad bit of news

Tragic, RIP Andy. The Paris Dakar is like the Isle of Man now, so many top guys are getting killed, should be continued? I guess you'll always argue that the riders know the risks, but does that still make it alright?

I had the same thoughts as well. I think it should still go ahead tho. They know the dangers. Life is dangerous! Sad new but.
