Sorry girl, I really wanted to come as I've heard a lot about those roads and was really looking forward to the lamb on a spit....

Don't get disheartened with the response. This affair is quite expensive and everyone may not be able to commit themselves financially or time wise.

It's really nice to see people like you and Jimbo take an interest in us and do something about it. Thanks for that

Well, I don't think I will waste my time organising a group get-together if the bloody group doesn't want to get off it's arse! That goes for Thursday Night rides too. I'm really disappointed in the interest, I'm sure all of you have better things to do like washing the car and curling your hair........
I could not agree with you more Qkchk. We organised the East and Central north Island tour as posted in the events on the same weekend. Finally we got all 8 places filled, but not without almost pulling our hair out. Cant understand how there can be so many ppl on kiwi biker and so few interrested ppl to accually ride. Come on guys and gals...this is not a chat room, its a biker website, with the emphasis on "biker"..which means ppl who RIDE bikes....not just talk about them to be in the "in" crowd.

    Life is about having fun.

Thanks you for your support guys, it would of been nice to join you on your tour. Let me know if you are planning anymore in the near future....

I've been watching your thread and as you have said, IT IS HARD to get people motivated and actualy riding on this site...... I've figured it comes down to a matter of things:

    - Lack of funds and/or time for riding (not at top of their priorities)
    - Handbrake (his or her partner/wife/husband)
    - Children or pets
    - Not as competant rider as they make out
    - Don't even have a bike
    - Don't like the thought of doin 200+ kms per day
    - Would rather sit behind a computer making motorbike sounds instead.

I'm not picking on any single individual, just giving MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION! As expected I will be giving flak for it.............

Hmm - wonder how many of these real riders will be putting their names down for the Rusty Nuts Grand Challenge this year.

Would have loved to support you on this ride QC, but just my dam luck to get the love bug with someone South of the Bombays (with kids, it's not easy for her to come the 400km up to me, so it's up to me to go down) I have tried to organise rides up here before (even offer free accommodation), but have found most riders here are WE/One-Day-Wonder riders who thing 400kms is a long distance (I'm riding twice that every fortnight) Best bet is enjoy your ride up here anyway. I'm sure those Northland riders who can will try to meet up with you where they can.

Well you've got me on three out of seven.

I don't think anyone has had any trouble getting the A's out on day rides, but overnighters are another level of commitment again.

Don't give up, it's a good idea, just one that doesn't suit at this time.

Maybe you could check with that good bugger Quasi for some tips = he gets a big turnout on his Waikato Rally rides, from all over the island, rain or shine...

Yeah that would be great if you could join us Meeting at 8.30 up @ Shell Westgate, leaving by 9. Sounds like you are camping @ Pine Tree Lodge in Ahipara. Plans were to head up to the top on Sunday morning then do some other routes (time permitting.....) then have a lamb on the spit for Sunday night dinner.
