    Cb1

    Hi guys (and gals)
Quick question: does anyone out there own a Honda CB-1? I bought one three months ago - great bike but very rare in this part of the world. It would be great if there was someone who would be interested in swapping info, ideas etc. especially maintenance, availability of parts etc. Any takers?

O.K., I've got the message. Several days and not a single reply - I'm on my own . But I don't care. I like my CB-1, and I'm going to keep it. For a while. At least until I see something bigger and better. Or until it needs an unobtainable part. Or until I get too embarrassed riding a bike that nobody else wants.
Seriously, though, anyone else out there got a bike (apart from vintage/classic) that absolutely no-one else owns? Doesn't it make you feel good being unique???

The CB1 is the Honda 400 naked bike, isnt it, with the CBR400 motor? I took one for a test ride from Red Barons a couple of years ago - quite a nice bike for general use, I thought.

Or is it the CBR1000 minus fairing and some top end? If so, there is a red and white one in Tauranga. No idea who owns it, though.

SPman is onto it (is there any limit to his knowledge?). The CB-1 (NC27) is also known as CB400FK and was only made between 1989 and 1990 except for domestic Japanese models which continued I think until 1992. They were intended mainly for the American market but didn't sell well there probably because the Yanks think anything under 600cc is a girl's bike, but quite a few were imported into Europe where they are a lot more popular. Mine's a Jap spec version - similar to the photo but black instead of blue. I love it - only problem is being a naked bike the wind at 170kph tries to blow your head off. Still haven't got it to redline in top (13,500 rpm!) - bloody cops.

    HONDA CB-1

Yes , I have one . Its a pity there arent more of these bikes around . Looks good , performs well , cant fault it . Im tall and this is a big bike so im not cramped , the engine gives everything I want and runs like a sewing machine . Its a 1991 done 40000kms , just put tyres on it and thats all it needs . I just hop I dont crash it as trying to get part would be reasonably difficult . I rode a VFR750 just before I bought this bike and to be honest wasnt really a lot of difference in performance, a dyno would proove me wrong I guess ! Try CB-1.net for more information on this weapon .

A couple more photos of CB-1

A big cult following in England , this is a Japanese import though , hence 1991 , with the black sidecover .

    Arrow Hey there.

Sent you a PM regarding the CB1. Had the 1992 CB400f2 (jap import), which apparently has the same engine in it. Have the workshop manual for the CB1 and a common manual & service manual. If anyone would like a copy, feel free to PM me and I can get a disc out to you

!!! Well it takes a while... My original post was February 2003!!
Still got the CB-1 - use it for commuting. Done 60k and still as good as new (well, almost...). Great little bike. But thank god I haven't needed parts for it...
Still it's good to see that there's at least one other in the country (or 2, if Red Baron still haven't managed to sell the one I saw there a year ago).
    Thanks for the PMs inlinefour.

    Your Offer of a Disc

Hi - I picked up inlinefour's post that he had the workshop manual for the CB1 and a common manual & service manual. He also said that he would be able to get a disc out to someone that needed this.

I'm in Scotland (my bike is a 1990 CB1 with 34,000 km on the clock) and would really appreciate a disc, if you are able to post one over here. Could you email me at gordon.s.downie@btopenworld.com if that is possible and we can discuss how to go about it?

    Many thanks

I got one to keep its older sister 1976 cb400f company. Might go for a cb400sf to complete the set!
